Grab a bargain designed by the ‘Rock and Roll Cobbler’

Popular shoe retailers Spartoo are fast becoming the place to find the best bargains in terms of designer shoes. Last month I showed you that you the fabulous range of Rupert Sanderson shoes that you could purchase for a fraction of their suggested retail price, and this month I’m turning my gaze towards the ‘Rock and Roll Cobbler’, the one and only Terry De Havilland.

Terry De Havilland has been making extraordinary shoes beloved of the stars since the 1960s, with Kate Moss, The Saturdays, Melanie C, Sienna Miller and Mischa Barton, amongst others, being huge fans of his Margaux wedges. Terry’s shoes always have a touch of the dramatic about them, the extra high wedge heel, the use of snakeskin, a real 70s aesthetic. And now you can find all his most vibrant designs at Spartoo with up to 60% off. This is just the perfect way to pick up a little bit of fashion heritage.

Rupert Sanderson at Spartoo

Be still my beating heart! That genius of shoe design, Rupert Sanderson, is now at my fave online shoe retailer, Spartoo, and I must admit that I am so excited.  The man who combines the best of Italian craftsmanship with his own unique, and often avant-garde design is one of my favourite designers. And with awards such as the British Fashion Councils Accessory Designer of the year and Elle’s Style Award for best accessory designer, this is clearly a man who understands that an outfit often stands and falls on the ability to choose the right footwear.

Spartoo is currently playing host to a whole range of Rupert’s amazing shoes, heeled sandals and boots. There are some seriously sey skyscraper heels – the sort that induce vertigo, but these also sit alongside very cool and sophisticated wedge heeled boots. I just adore the drama of the Flamente sandal, which have a very Spanish edge to them, whilst the Glen boots have unusual quilted detail that makes them stand apart from other boots.

And, if you are looking for a total bargain, that you will find it hard to stop stroking. let alone wear, how about the Treen, which now have an amazing 70%, reduced from £504.99 to just £151.50 – the bargain of 2013 maybe.

Duchess Kate wears Roksanda Ilincic to the Royal Academy

The Duchess of Cambridge summer wardrobe of style continued today, with two appearances by Kate, at the equestrian event to support Zara Philips (who was superb by the way…), and then at an event at The Royal Academy she wore a beautiful dress by one of my favourite designers, Roksanda Ilincic.

But first to the equestrian ground. Kate was in casual mode, wearing the gorgeous Smythe blazer that we first saw during the tour of Canada last summer. Skinny jeans, the Stuart Weitzman wedges and a crisp white shirt completed the look, which had a very preppy edge to it. Every girl needs a smart blazer in their wardrobe, Kate showed that they can look great dressed down with jeans, or smart worn over a dress for work and more formal occasions.

Kate’s 2nd outfit of the day was a beautiful, dove grey, dress by Roksanda Ilincic. This dress, the ‘Peridot’ dress had also been worn last summer during Kate’s trip to North America, but with new LK Bennett heels, jewelled earrings and a sophisticated updo, this dress was transformed into a perfect cocktail dress.

Roksanda Ilincic dresses are a dream, deceptively simple in design, it is all about the cut which often has interesting drape detailing that is very flattering. For fans of Roksanda who don’t have a Duchess style budget, there is a fantastic high street range for Debenhams as part of the Editions range.

Kate’s dress is from a previous season, but many of the dresses in the  new season collection, which is now on sale at Selfridges, have the same exquisite draping detailing that is a trademark of Roksanda Ilincic designs. Many dresses in the new collection are in Kate’s favourite shade of blue, which makes me wonder whether we will be seeing her in any of these designs in the coming months.
