1920s Splendour – Carey Mulligan and The Great Gatsby
As any regular Fashion-Mommy reader will know, I’m having a bit of a 1920s/Art Deco fashion obsessive moment. I just seem to have full in love with feathers, fringes and flappers. So for me, one of the highlights of 2012 will be the release of Baz Luhrmann’s version of The Great Gatsby starring the luminous Carey Mulligan. I have adored this book since I was a teenager, reading it on numerous occasions and also searching out other F Scott Fitzgerald books like Tender is the Night and The Beautiful and the Damned. But I have never felt film versions have done justice to the book, the 1970s version starring Mia Farrow…

Rooney Mara – New style crush.
I’m a little obsessed with Rooney Mara at the moment. The star of the American version of ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, she barely registered on the fashion Richter scale before the start of filming, but now she is frankly blowing me away with her combination of Snow White beauty and her impeccable style choices. Alexa Chung Style at A/wear
Alexa Chung is an undoubted style icon. Twice awarded British Style Icon at the UK Style awards, she avoids overtly sexy looks, instead citing 60s style icons Marianne Faithfull, Jayne Birkin and Penelope Tree as influences. Short dresses are toned down with chunky boots and quirky flat shoes, hair is worn barely styled, hanging loose or in simple loose ponytails and make-up is also of the barely there variety, with the exception of the smokey eyes. She is someone who looks chic whilst appearing not to try too hard. A/wear have used a lot of Alexa influence in their latest range of dresses. The great news is that the A/Wear…
