Sparkling shoes – not just for Dorothy.

What’s your favourite part of The Wizard of Oz? Dorothy, played by the legendary Judy Garland at her most heartbreaking? The hilarious Cowardly Lion? Maybe it’s the oh-so-cute Toto? Well, if you’re anything like me, your favourite part of The Wizard of Oz will be Dorothy’s exquisite ruby-red slippers, those stunning sparkly numbers that she had to drop a house on a witch to get. Dorothy showed that sparkly, glittery shoes do not need to be restricted simply to evening occasions – she even rocked hers with gingham!

This season Spartoo have an amazing selection of glittery shoes that add sparkle to even the wettest and dullest of days (yes, I am thinking today). With a selection of  different heel sizes, round, pointed and peep toed, there is a style to suit everyone. Personal favourites of mine are Stylistclick Liz  gold Mary  Janes, which could be Miu Miu and yet cost just £35 and the Frida Jelena’s, which have a Hollywood 1940s feel and which I have added to my already massive Spartoo shopping list.

So, the challenge for May, shoe-nista’s, should you accept it, is to add sparkly shoes to your day wardrobe. I’m thinking skinny jeans, crisp white shirt, and a touch of sparkle on your feet. Understated and unexpected – perfect daytime attire.

Duchess Kate wears Matthew Williamson – and looks AMAZING!

At the African Cats premiere, Kate Middleton showed why she continues to impress with her style credentials, choosing a glorious Matthew Williamson style dress that just ticked all the right boxes.

In the softest grey, this shift style dress had the bang-on-trend peplum waistband and an unusual jewelled and beaded neckline and cuffs that had a touch of the ornate 1960s about them. The jewelled neckline also added a colour pop with green and yellow beads that sparkled and shone on the wettest night of the year.

How to get the look

You could  create your own version of Kate’s dress with a simple, sleek peplum dress that  could then be embellished  with  an ornate bib/ Cleopatra style collar necklace. The great thing about this look is that when you remove the necklace, you get a completely different look – two for the price of one!

TOWIE celebrity style featuring New Look, Miss Selfridge and Simply Be

My best friend is getting married in June (so exciting!), and she has decided for a real Essex Hen night, complete with a trip to the infamous Sugar Hut. This has led to Fashion-Mommy giving the style of those TOWIE ladies a lot of consideration. And I have to say that they make some great choices when they hit the High Street. The lovely Lydia Bright, Gemma Collins and Jess Wright have all recently been pictured wearing some great High Street finds that look really good without breaking the bank. Here’s how you can get the looks for yourself.

Gemma Collins wears Simply Be and Dorothy Perkins

I love Gemma. She’s a gorgeous curvy lady who truly knows how to dress her figure to the most glamorous advantage. Many have commented on her resemblance to a young Diana Dors, I can see this myself and think this is why Gemma looks best when she  opts  for high-octane glamour.

On the recent (rather strange) programme, TOWIE versus Benidorm, I noticed Gemma wearing this rather lovely Dorothy Perkins dress that is now available in the sale. The dress also comes in an ivory shade.

Gemma also looked fabulous in a Simply Be shrug that I had featured on Fashion-Mommy site earlier this year. It had a lot of great responses then, and I think Gemma showed off just how pretty this item is. It is from the Frock&Frill range and costs £50.

Lydia Bright

We all know that Lydia is a huge Miss Selfridge fan, and she has kept up her support for the brand recently by wearing a series of items from the store on TOWIE, and when she has been out and about.

I loved this sheer dress when I saw it at the Arcadia Press day last year, but thought it had an Ibiza feel to it that would keep it as a holiday buy.Lydia showed how to dress it up for an evening out. Unfortunately, this look is out of stock online, but you may find it in your local branch.

Lydia also snapped up a pair of the limited edition Clementine heels, which added  a colour pop to a neutral outfit.

 Jessica Wright

Jessica has recently been photographed wearing a gorgeous pastel pair of New Look heeled loafers that cost just  £25. I wasn’t sure  about heeled loafers at first -the name sounded like an oxymoron in itself, but must admit I am  really beginning to love them, and think they look super cute with ankle socks (although I  wouldn’t advise this if you have a child also  wearing ankle  socks…). Jess’s shoes  also come in black, perfect for  work.
