Art Deco styling from Next
A good friend once said to me that Art Nouveau was all about summer – pretty colours, swirls and florals, but that Art Deco was Winter – a stark palette of black, white, cream with a few bright primary shades thrown in. I would take the metaphor further and say if Nouveau was day, then Deco was most definitely night. And maybe that’s what makes Art Deco styling so perfect for glamorous festive evening wear. Next have taken the Deco trend that has been such a key story in recent seasons and have reinvented it for Winter 2012. Taking all those stark, contrasting colours – the black and white, or…

Spooky fashion treats for Halloween
The witching hour is almost upon us. For me, nothing says that winter is almost here more than the arrival of Halloween. And whether you spend the spookiest night of the year in front of a cosy fire, take to the streets trick or treating, or rock the night away at a costume party, there is still something magical about the night when the witches, ghosts and goblins rule. Ted Baker’s amazing new men’s accessories at Selfridges
Whilst the ladies were enjoying the gigantic shopping experience that is Style Birmingham, Selfridges made sure that the menfolk were not neglected with a very special launch of the ‘Ted Baker workshop’ department. This was the sort of event which should really be ‘Only men allowed’, but I popped along a little earlier for a sneaky preview of what sort of treats were going to be on offer that afternoon, and let’s just say that this event would appeal to even those men who profess to really hating shopping! Ted Baker accessories have been something pretty special in recent seasons, I totally adore the shiny brights of Ted’s ‘sweet shoppe’…

Reviewed – Heat Holders – A total wonder sock!
I have discovered my first Christmas stocking filler that I am going to get for all the men in my life (hubby, dad, brother etc for those who were beginning to wonder..). This is a product that is both practical and affordable, but feels like one of life’s little luxuries. Let me introduce you to the Heat Holders socks. Heat Holders have been marketed as the ultimate thermal sock. With a tog rating of 2.3, Heat Holders are almost twice as warm as normal thermal socks and claim to hold warm air close to the skin, keeping feet warmer for longer. Using my builder husband Peter as a guinea pig,…

X Factor Live show Fash Off – Week 1
Well, it is back with a bang, and if last night’s live vote was anything to go by, then singing is not the most important thing about the X Factor ( Rylan is apparently a better act than the beautiful, talented Carolynne..who would’ve believed that???). So I will concentrate on one of my favourite aspects of X Factor, the fash-off. Last year, the lovely Kelly Rowland was the absolute clear winner in the style stakes, choosing beautiful dress after beautiful dress and leaving Tulisa frankly in the shade. But with Kelly gone, Tulisa faced a new challenge from Nicole Scherzinger. So who would win the battle of the opening week…
