An evening with Jacques Vert, Grand Central Birmingham
Last Thursday the gorgeous Jacques Vert flagship store in Birmingham’s Grand Central hosted an evening of shopping and fizz as it showcased its key looks for the upcoming party season. A sort of early Black Friday, there was also a massive 30% discount on the night, which was a tempting incentive to snap up a series of gorgeous looks. I went along to check out this season’s style and to get a better understanding of why Jacques Vert is no longer just the destination of choice for ‘Mother of the Bride’ outfits. Jacques Vert is a British High Street icon. The company was originally founded in 1972 by Jack…

A makeover with Sascha Jackson of Stila UK
Sascha Jackson is one of the UK’s most renowned make up artists, and last week she took a trip to Birmingham to promote Stila UK and their range of festive products and shades. I was lucky enough to be invited along to the stunning Harvey Nichols store in the Mailbox in order to try some of the new products and get a chance to chat with Sascha, picking the brains of a bona fide beauty expert. Even though I’ve had many years of practice at putting my face on, I still feel like I have a lot to learn when it comes to make up. Sascha was full of advice,…

Luckily I was not to be disappointed, in the careful hands of a note perfect cast, Pride and Prejudice proved to be as fresh and funny as it was over 200 years ago, when it first appeared in print. The story of Mr and Mrs Bennett, and their five unwed daughters is a literary classic, one which shows that it’s writer, Jane Austen, was well ahead of her times. The…

The Lobby on Hill Street Launches in Style
The end of October saw the launch party for Birmingham’s newest venue. The Lobby on Hill Street showed there’s no party like a lobby party, with everything from magicians, dress up photobooths, showgirls, mixologists, glitter and star make up artists and a flash mob style performance from Young Pilgrims. Add a funk and retro soul set by Craig Charles and you have a night that was frankly unmissable. From the minute you arrived you could tell that this was going to be some party. In fact, PARTY was spelled out in giant neon letters are you walked the red carpet to be greeted by Champagne and showgirls beautifully festooned…
