Blog Takeover – Fashion Mr Speaks
When I was offered the opportunity to take over Emma’s blog, I was a little bit skeptical. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I like my clothes as much as anyone else, but writing about them? That was something outside my remit. But then Em explained that this was a special project looking to test out whether lucky charms really do work, and that I would be given some lucky charms (cereal as it turned out), as well as a few other gifts, such as cufflinks and DVDs to test out. Now, I don’t mind admitting that I am slightly superstitious. I always salute magpies (I for sorrow and all…

Naomi Watts recalls the glamour of Diana
During the last week, whilst I was enjoying a family holiday, I have been engrossed on a daily basis with the pictures that have been emerging from the film set of ‘Caught in Flight’. For those unfamiliar with that title, this is the film of the last few years of the life of Diana, Princess of Wales covering the events leading up to her tragic death in that Parisian tunnel in 1997, with thelate Princess being portrayed by a uncannily Diana -Like Naomi Watts. I was a huge fan of the late Princess of Wales from the day she stepped out of that carriage at St Paul’s cathedral in that…

Be like Slade and enjoy a very Seventies Christmas
I’m a child of the 1970s, and love everything about the decade that some say style forgot. Platform shoes, flares, halter neck maxi dresses and glam rock are all cherished by Fashion-Mommy. And in terms of Christmas, was it ever celebrated better than in the 70s.Think about it, you could watch Christmas Top of the Pops in 1973 whilst dance away to the sounds of Slade, Wizzard and Elton John ‘Stepping into Christmas’, then enjoy the Morecambe and Wise Christmas special whilst enjoying a snowball and a selection of vol-u-vents and other delights from the hostess trolley. What’s not to love? This Christmas you can channel the best of 70s…

Miracle on Regent street – An interview with Ali Harris
I always read a festive story as the countdown to Christmas begins. And just sometimes I read a story that I get so involved in that I just can’t put it down. That’s how I feel about the wonderful, heartwarming story that is ‘Miracle on Regent Street’. The story of a fallen on hard times department store, and the stockroom girl determined to transform its fortunes, and, just maybe, her own, this is a story that only a real life Scrooge could fail to love. I adored the tails of the long forgotten vintage stock, the hand-made soaps that take on iconic status, and most of all I loved each…

My week with Marilyn
I’ve been a Marilyn Monroe fan for as long as I can remember. Her sheer glamour, loveable persona and that beautiful face and figure made her my key beauty icon whilst I was growing up. Add in her tumultuous love life and mysterious death and you get one of the most fascinating personalities of the 20th century. But even with all these key ingredients, making a good film about this Icon has been difficult. The best portrayal was by Catherine Hicks in the 1980 film, Marilyn – The Untold Story. She managed to portray the vulnerability of Marilyn, but the film itself was dire. But now we may just have…
