Review – Let it Be at the New Alexandra Theatre
For as long as I can remember, I have been a fan of The Beatles. As a child I had one of those ‘first’ record players (I know there are some people reading this right now thinking what’s a record player – grrr). These were the portable ones with a lid and a carry handle and it went everywhere with me. I used to plunder mom and dad’s record collection, and loved ‘From me to you’, ‘Hello Goodbye’ and ‘Get Back’ on that instantly recognisable Apple record label. For me, The Beatles are the standard that all other bands aspire to, their music is what the word ‘classic’ was invented…

Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy lights up Birmingham
Mickey Mouse was back in town last night, bringing a whole raft of his friends with him. Yes, Disney on Ice was in Birmingham at the LG Arena with a brand new show. As usual it was a spectacle that was enjoyed by young and old, who were treated to some exhilarating dance, fabulous costumes and a whole lot of wholesome fun. The newest show is Worlds of Fantasy. Micky, Minnie, Donald and Goofy embark on a road trip that is curtailed when their car breaks down. Cue the Disney favourites being transported to four different ‘worlds’ that include Radiator Springs, ‘Under the Sea’, the land of the fairies and…

Reviewed – Tonight’s the Night at New Alexandra Theatre
The Rod Stewart musical Tonight’s the Night rocked into Birmingham on Monday night for a week long run at New Alexandra Theatre, and proved to be loud, raucous and most definitely crowd pleasing fun. The story, by Ben Elton, revolves around the plight of young Stuart, a (let’s be honest) harmless nerd with an almighty crush on the sweet Mary. Lacking in all the departments that he thinks attracts the ladies, he makes a pact with the (she) devil to swap his soul for that of his idol, that legendary rocker and undoubted ladies man, Rod Stewart. This works initially and he gets his girl, but having the soul of…

Favourite looks from the Elle Style Awards
Tonight saw a whole host of stylish ladies attending the Elle Style Awards. One of the most respected of all style awards, this year saw luminaries like Emma Watson, Ellie Goulding, Jessie J, Suki Waterhouse and Cara Delevingne amongst the ladies in attendance. With a guest list like this, we were promised some interesting looks at the very least, and unfortunately, it has to be said that most of the looks on display were to be admired for being interesting, rather than actually looking that good. Cara seemed to be dressed in a black satin dressing gown, Jessie J was basically beyond words and Ellie was again sans knickers and…
