A Fashionable Day Out at the Races
The main event at the Aintree festival every year is the Grand National, which always takes place on the Saturday of the meeting. This year, The Crabbie’s Grand National will run on Saturday 5 April, and will attract more than 600 million viewers who will watch it live on TV. But for people who prefer to mix their horse racing with fashion, then Ladies’ Day on Friday 4 April is the day to actually go to Aintree, if you have the chance. In the same vein as Ladies’ Day at Ascot, this is a day for the female visitors to the course to show off their finest outfits, hairstyles and…

Review – Let it Be at the New Alexandra Theatre
For as long as I can remember, I have been a fan of The Beatles. As a child I had one of those ‘first’ record players (I know there are some people reading this right now thinking what’s a record player – grrr). These were the portable ones with a lid and a carry handle and it went everywhere with me. Mickey Mouse was back in town last night, bringing a whole raft of his friends with him. Yes, Disney on Ice was in Birmingham at the LG Arena with a brand new show. Cue the Disney favourites being transported to four different ‘worlds’ that include Radiator Springs, ‘Under the Sea’, the land of the fairies and…

The answer to the question often lies in the personality of the…

Reviewed – Tonight’s the Night at New Alexandra Theatre
The Rod Stewart musical Tonight’s the Night rocked into Birmingham on Monday night for a week long run at New Alexandra Theatre, and proved to be loud, raucous and most definitely crowd pleasing fun. The story, by Ben Elton, revolves around the plight of young Stuart, a (let’s be honest) harmless nerd with an almighty crush on the sweet Mary. Lacking in all the departments that he thinks attracts the ladies, he makes a pact with the (she) devil to swap his soul for that of his idol, that legendary rocker and undoubted ladies man, Rod Stewart. This works initially and he gets his girl, but having the soul of…
