Christmas is coming to Hotel La Tour
Hotel La Tour is the newest must visit destination in Birmingham. A stunning, ultra modern, landmark building on the Brummie skyline, Hotel La Tour offers a beautiful setting for luxurious dining. So I was very excited last week when I received an invite from my lovely friend and fellow blogger Emily Jayne to sample their latest afternoon tea offering which promised a real taste of Christmas. It was the coldest and windiest day imaginable last Thursday, but Hotel La Tour soon raised the spirits – it was in the middle of being decorated for Christmas and looked simply beautiful, like those gorgeous New York hotels you always see in festive…

Getting ready for Christmas – Paper, cards and all the trimmings
It really is nearly Christmas. So, if you’re anything like me, you will be in the middle of buying all your Christmas cards and paper, planning your Christmas food, and getting those last few decorations ready for the great big switch on (for me this is always December the 1st, and accompanied by a small glass of sherry and Slade of course.). There are so many stores out there offering everything you need to make it a perfect Christmas, so I thought I would show you a few of the my seasonal stops as I prepare for the most wonderful time of the year (cue Andy Williams please!). Decorations to…

I’m going nuts over Salty Dog Nuts
I don’t mind admitting to you that the Fashion-Mommy household is basically a savoury household. Both my husband and child are aficionados of pretty much every flavour of crisps, and nuts are also a delicacy that we seem to get through in droves (especially the dry roasted Variety). And with Winter nights drawing in, my idea of a perfect Saturday night is one in front of the TV, watching a Strictly Come Dancing – X Factor marathon, with a nice bottle of wine, some cheese and biscuits, and plenty of nibbles of the nut variety. So when I was asked if I would be interested in trying out the newest…

The Great British Bake off frenzy
It’s the TV programme that everyone seems to be hooked on. From 8-9pm on Tuesday nights, millions of women (and men) are glued to their television sets watching the unlikeliest of TV hits, a programme that seems to be set in the sort of England that is usually confined to Midsummer Murders, and where every kitchen has that mouth-watering scent of Baked Bread. I’m talking, of course, about that great Twitter favourite, ‘The Great British Bake Off’. The latest series again shows just how much the baking and cupcake craze is taking off. Paul Hollywood makes women’s hearts flutter with his piercing blue eyes, whilst Mary Berry has become an…

Making a picture from Oddities – how hard can that be?
And the answer to the above question is really hard, because the three year old tasked with creating the picture is more interested in eating them than being creative. Oddities, for those wondering which planet I’ve just arrived from, are those rather tasty wheat based savoury biscuits from Jacobs. They come in two flavours, bacon (which I’m rather partial to) and cheese. Joe, my three year old. isn’t at all fussy, he likes them both equally. (He told me that through a mouthful…). When I was contacted about taking part in a special Oddities national campaign, I was rather excited. Having a three year old can make blogging rather difficult…
