Selfridges Homewares Sale – find your Domestic Goddess
Nobody would ever accuse me of being a goddess of domesticity, I can hardly find my way around a can opener, could burn water, and only watch cookery programmes so I can shout things at the telly like ‘Who has all that in their cupboards?’ or ‘What is All Spice?’ or even ‘Ghost Chilli – are they making this up?’ But even with all this in mind, I do love a gorgeous kitchen that is just gleaming with gorgeous appliances. Which is why I totally love the current Selfridges homewares sale. This is full of the sorts of fantastic appliances that could be classed as design classics, with famous names…

MPW in The Cube – Simply Wonderful!
August has been a pretty special month for Fashion-Mommy. As well as celebrating two years of this blog, I was also celebrating seven years of being married to my long-suffering other half, and the only place I really wanted to celebrate was at MPW in The Cube. Marco Pierre White’ s Birmingham Steakhouse has been a huge success since it opened at the end of last year, with the most fantastic word of mouth reviews for the food, service and ambiance. I was lucky enough to attend the launch party earlier this year, where guests were treated to fabulous canapes that hinted at the delights at the menu, so I…

Sainsburys Christmas in July
Last Thursday, on a rather hot, stuffy day in London, I was strangely transported to a different time, a time we know and love as CHRISTMAS! Yes, the Christmas in July events were in full throttle, but due to actually try to enjoy summer I hadn’t been to any of them this year. But all this changed as I got that festive feeling – starting with a stunning event organised by Sainsburys. Held in the totally beautiful surroundings of Il Bottaccio, Grovesnor Place, Sainsburys introduced us to a real Winter Wonderland, a showcase for everything seasonal, from party wear to gifts, food to flowers, beauty products to Prosecco. There was…

Joe’s #ColourMeinRK Challenge
This page is called Fashion Mommy, but more often than not it features more of the fashion, and less of the mommy side to me. But I was recently asked if I wanted my little one Joe to take part in a special challenge in collaboration with Britmums and Kelloggs Rice Crispies. This was the colour me in Rice Crispies challenge and involved a very large box of the cereal and a rather gorgeous colouring set containing a range of felts, crayons, glitter glue and magic pens. The idea was that Joe decorated his Rice Crispy packet however he wanted, and then I would upload a photograph of his masterpiece.…

Marco Pierre White and Hotel Indigo launch Party
Birmingham has a new landmark, the glorious skyscraper that is ‘The Cube’ that now soars above the city. And last Thursday saw the launch party for what is set to be The place to eat in Birmingham, Marco Pierre White’s steakhouse bar and grill at Hotel Indigo. MPW is an ultra modern restaurant spanning the 25th floor of The Cube, and Fashion-Mommy was there to check it out. The launch party had been organised by the Ed James group, and I must admit to being very impressed by the spectacle they had laid on. Marco’s face stared moodily out at guests, emblazoned over the 25 stories of The Cube for…
