Reviewed: Slade in Flame
It has been called the Citizen Kane of Rock and Roll movies, although, 5o years ago, when it was first released, it was received in a far less reverential way. Now, it has been re-released, and, on Wednesday I went to see what Slade in Flame was all about. I have to say, I absolutely loved it. It is not a cheery pop movie in the vein of ‘A Hard Day’s Night‘ or ‘The Young Ones’, instead, you get a dirty, gritty 1970’s film that has far more in common with the brilliant David Essex film ‘Stardust’. This is about how the music industry can pick up and then spit…

Style Focus – Fabulous Noosha Fox
Her real name was Susan Traynor. Certainly not as glam as Noosha Fox, which suited this most elegant, glamorous and enigmatic of singers far better. She was Australian, and was the lead singer of Fox, a group that’s star shone brightly but briefly for a short period in the mid 1970’s at the tail end of glam rock. Just three UK hits, as well as one solo hit in the later 70’s. Yet Noosha is a singer who is still widely admired, with a dedicated fan base who applaud her unique vocals and impeccable personal style. Noosha was a glamorous presence on Top of the Pops in the mid 70’s.…

Sophie Ellis Bextor Brings In 2025
BBC have become synonymous with music stars ringing in the new year. Whether it be Jools Holland and his now legendary Hootenanny lighting up BBC2, or a selected music star in a specially broadcast concert on BBC1, television on New Year’s Eve is about music. This year, it was Sophie Ellis Bextor, fresh from a stellar year off the back of a certain song appearing in a certain movie, who bought the glitter and glamour and the sounds of the Kitchen Disco as we said goodbye to 2024. I’m a huge fan of Sophie, and her particular brand of retro disco. I’ve only seen her live once, during her Groovejet…

ABBA Voyage – What A Show!
This year was one of those when I had a special birthday. You know, one of those milestone birthdays that I personally would rather not acknowledge, but hey oh! One of my presents (from the hubby) was tickets to see the extraordinary ABBA live show, ABBA Voyage, and this Sunday was, finally, the big night. I was not disappointed. The show is incredible, a real treat, for ABBA fans, and for those who are frankly, not so keen (aka the hubby). The show is a virtual concert residency , due to stay in the East End until at least May 2025. The concert features digital avatars and use vocals re-recorded…

Paloma Faith in Wolverhampton – Diva Fever.
*This is a revisit of a review from 2010 when Paloma Faith played Wolverhampton Civic Hall. Fashion-mommy’s favourite Diva hit Wolverhampton Civic Hall tonight, and that meant a night out without the Baba. This was actually a much-needed blessing in disguise has Baba has hit the terrible tutu’s (22 months that is) and is refusing to go to sleep, day or night. So Fashion-Mommy threw on her glad rags, grab her leopard print t-bars and red lippy, and went with Hubby to see the wonderful Paloma Faith whilst Nanna and grandad looked after a somewhat truculent Baba. Fashion-Mommy loves dressing up, and has Paloma is one of my favourite style…
