My Fort Shopping Challenge

The Fort Shopping Centre is a Birmingham Shopping Destination that offers more than 40 stores and restaurants including Debenhams, New Look, Evans and JD Sports. I was recently asked if I wanted to take part in a special blogger challenge that Fort had planned. Could I put together a capsule outfit for the new year for £50? I obviously jumped at the chance!

So last Saturday I made my way to The Fort. After a lovely lunch at the Harvester Restaurant, I left Pete and Joe to look around the sports shops whilst I searched for a great outfit. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted, but did know that colour would play a great part – I wanted something to brighten up these very cold winter days.

There is a lot of choice when it comes to looking for women’s clothing at The Fort, as well as the aforementioned stores, there are also branches of Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins, Next, H&M and Marks and Spencer. I had a look in Marks and Spencer, who had a very good sale going on, and also H&M, which is great for fashion on a budget. I didn’t get anything from these stores, but I had been drawn to a great dress in the window of Wallis.

I’ve featured this dress on my blog before (here) and loved the simple, yet sophisticated shape, the fabric which was not too clingy but still added warmth, and the bright, vibrant colour. But when I entered the store, I saw that it was also available in pink, and a fabulous vibrant orange. The orange was absolutely my colour of choice.

I loved this dress the instant it was on, it was comfortable and stylish, and frankly, easy to wear. I headed to Dorothy Perkins to look for accessories, and got a couple of bargain buys – black heeled shoes and a drawstring animal print bag, which, in store, cost £21 in the current sale.

Styling

I kept all this very simple, just adding one of my own statement necklaces from Wallis for just a bit of Sparkle.
