Can High Heels ever be comfortable as well as beautiful?
I feel as though I am currently living two different shoe lives. My public life is spent constantly running around in high heels. Functions, nights out, weddings, funerals, meetings with the bank manager and more are all attended in heels – the higher, the better. But the private me, the mommy playing football in the garden, running in the park or trying to manoeuvre the trolley with the wonky wheels at the supermarket, spends her time in flat ballerina pumps. They are so much more comfortable and I can do so much more when I’m wearing them. But, try as I might to convert myself to their merits, I still…

Style on the Small Screen featuring Carrie Bradshaw, Mad Men and Hayley Atwell
I must admit to being a bit of a telly addict. (I did consider naming this post Telly addicted, but then I couldn’t get thoughts of Noel Edmonds and his interesting jumpers out of my mind, so I thought better about it.) I watch all sorts of programmes, from Eastenders to Scott and Bailey, from Broadchurch to The Village, and I also love quizzes and documentaries too. But the programmes that will always catch my eye will always have an element of style to them. From the sumptuous early shopping experiences of ‘Mr Selfridge’ and ‘The Paradise’, to the stunning Arena documentary series about Norman Parkinson that was shown on…

Boden’s Carrie Bradshaw tribute
Boden’s new season has arrived! And this might just be me, but some of the elements seem very familiar to this massive Sex and the City fan. Many parts of the collection are a nod to the legendary style of Carrie Bradshaw, featuring bold floral prints, bows on the waistband and corsages littered throughout. The feminine, but eclectic style remains a strong image, and I think Boden have done really well in channelling all that was fabulous about Carrie’s style, but updating the image for today’s market. Take a look and see if you agree with me.

The Carrie Diaries – The first look
When Anna Sophia Robb was crowned as the new Carrie Bradshaw, we wondered how she would fit the role. After all, SJP left some pretty impressive Manolo’s to fill. But with the first publicity shot released, and with a host of other images from on set also leaked to the press, it seems all our fears have been allayed. Because Anna Sophia Robb is most definitely a recognisable young Carrie. With a headful of corkscrew curls, a sequined prom dress teamed eclectically with a colour clashing cardigan and gorgeous red stilettos, we are being treated to the clashing style of Carrie Bradshaw at her best. There are lovely nods to…

Anna Sophia Robb is the new Carrie!
We’ve been hearing a lot about the Sex In The City prequel ‘The Carrie Diaries’ for some time now, with speculation rife about who would step into Sarah Jessica Parker’s gym shoes in order to play the young Carrie Bradshaw. It seemed that the front runner was Blake Lively, but I was never happy about that choice. The lithe Blake was too beautiful, too sexy and too self assured to play a feisty, but naive young Carrie, and I voiced my concern in a past post. Carrie Bradshaw is, after all, a modern icon, and so the person chosen needed to be able to live up to our image of…
