Monkey Wellbeing – A fabulous way to make hospital visits less scary
Having to go to hospital is scary at any age. The strange smell, the noise from machines and equipment and just the general unease about what is going to happen to you all go together to make hospitals something that most people are a little fearful of. A trip to hospital for a child is even more frightening especially if that trip is for surgery or involves a blood test or X-Ray. But a new resource created by a mum on a mission, is aiming to make the hospital a slightly less daunting place for infants. The Monkey Wellbeing resources have been created by Helen Saddler. Bandai Toys – More from the Power Rangers
Last year I wrote a review of some of the fab toys from the Power Rangers range that were enjoying a resurgence in popularity due to a new TV series. The review proved to be very popular and showed that since the 1990s, Power Rangers had never really disappeared from the hearts and minds of kids young, and not so young. The lovely people at Bandai have recently sent Joe some more of the range for review. As a huge Power Rangers fan he was very excited to receive some of the role play items, as well as a couple of the action figures. Power Rangers Megaforce Basic Ranger Training…

Save the Cyberworld with Bletchley Park and McAfee
As a parent with a child who is just starting to enjoy the benefits of the internet, one of my biggest fears is online safety. From chat-rooms and forums where people are not who they claim to be, to the hacking of passwords. From the transference of viruses that can lead to everything on your hard-drive being wiped out, to drive-by downloads that you don’t even know have occurred, the using of the internet by the young is just such a minefield. But help is at hand. Anti- Virus giant McAfee have formed a brilliant educational partnership with Bletchley Park, home of the Enigma code-busters and the birthplace of modern…

Getting Crafty this Easter
Spring is a wonderful time of year for fashion but for busy parents it also means Easter, and that means the school holidays. And that means two or three weeks of finding activities to keep the children entertained and happy – which is never an easy task. It’s usually okay if the weather’s decent; play in the garden, go to the park, stroll around a farm, that kind of thing. But as everyone knows, the UK weather is rarely predictable and April can be especially wet and miserable. With that in mind, it’s always advisable to have a few ideas for indoor fun. Arts and crafts are perfect to occupy…

Striking a balance between work and motherhood
It’s not always easy to juggle different aspects of your life, especially if you have young children to look after and are working at the same time. People who work away from home in an office and have to arrangechildcarehave one set of stresses and time management issues, while people who work at home and have the kids there too have another set of challenges. Of course, there are advantages to both styles of working. If you work for a company in an office, you can achieve that separation of home and work life more easily, but it’s not always possible to avoid bringing work home. Similarly, work at home…
