New season dresses – Are you a Grace or a Marilyn?
In my view, the 1950s were the golden era of the dress. In those days, before jeans became a major part of the wardrobe, dresses were worn for every occasion, from neat shirtwaisters in cotton that were the form of most day dresses, to the full on glamour of the evening gowns worn for all post cocktail hour events. No adding a glittering top to a pair of jeans for our grandmother’s generation – these ladies fully understood the art of dressing up. Perfect Pieces for a working wardrobe
Remember the days when a smart working wardrobe meant a really bad suit, whether you were male or female? Thank goodness those days are over. Many of us need to have smart pieces in our wardrobe, whether, like me, you split work between home and numerous business venues, or whether holding down full or part-time jobs in any environment where first impressions count. I also started thinking about my wardrobe too, and in particular,…

My LPSFW outfit + Win! with Clothing at Tesco.
Last week I was invited to attend London Plus size Fashion Weekend as a guest of Tesco. Of course I said ‘Yes!’ in my loudest voice, and then proceeded to squeal for a good many minutes when they said I would be able to choose an outfit from the Clothing at Tesco site to wear on the day. As a fan of F&F, this was a fantastic opportunity to test drive pieces from the range, although I knew just settling on one outfit wouldn’t be easy. I knew I wanted to choose a dress, and there were a few that caught the eye, including a fabulous silk feel shirt dress…

Friday shopping focus -Designer at Debenhams key sales picks
For my Friday shopping focus this week I thought I would start with a little look at Debenhams, who are holding a special three day sale. Everything across the store and online has some level of discount, making this the perfect weekend to treat yourself, or pick up something that you have needed for a long time (the wants versus the needs!). In particular, you can find some really fantastic offers on new lines from the ‘Designers at Debenhams’ section. This collection has long been a great place to source quality pieces and designs, with designers like Jasper Conran, Betty Jackson, Ben De Lisa and Marios Schwab all producing fabulous…
