Spain has a stylish new queen
Unless you have been living under a rock and have totally been ignoring the world’s news, you will not have missed the news that Spain has a new king, following the abdication of King Juan Carlos. And along with the new king, Felipe VI, we also have a very stylish new queen, Letizia. And boy, does she have a pretty amazing wardrobe. Letizia is a former journalist and newsreader who married Felipe in May 2004. She is very popular in Spain, and much like the Duchess of Cambridge she has championed Spanish designers and High Street stores, from Felipe Varela and Lorenzo Caprile, to the much loved Mango and Zara.…

Reviewed – Zebra Print Dress from Tu at Sainsburys
The next review in my series celebrating life beginning at 40 is from Tu, the range of clothes that are stocked in Sainsburys. I’ve been a fan of Tu for years, I believe they offer exceptionally good quality for a supermarket brand, with style very similar to Boden, but at a great budget price range. I really enjoyed looking at the current collection, which offered something a little different to the summer brights I have been wearing. Natural and neutral shades, with more than a nod towards the ‘Out of Africa’ and safari styles that always work so well in summer, make up an important part of this collection, with…

BHS new season dresses – from casual to glamour
In recent years, BHS has really upped its game when it comes to clothing. No longer the place you visit for homewares and bedding, BHS now has a great range of fashion looks, as well as concessions in store that stock other Arcadia brands, Wallis and Dorothy Perkins. With the new Spring/Summer ranges now just appearing in stores, now is a good time to examine what BHS has to offer. I’m pleased to say that the collection is really lovely, offering a dress for all occasions. There are some very pretty, retro inspired sun dresses, the candy striped shirt dress in bubblegum pink is a lovely piece that will be…

Reviewed – Woven Printed dress from Planet
I often wonder whether this blog should really be called ‘another day, another dress’, because despite the fact I do enjoy wearing casual clothes and jeans when shopping or having downtime, whenever I have an occasion of any sort, I dip into the wardrobe and look for one of my dresses. And I think this explains why I get so excited about reviewing dresses, especially when it is for a label I have never worn before. It must be how kids feel at Christmas, or in a toy shop… My latest dress review concerns a label I do have in my wardrobe, but mainly through very good finds from charity…

Harvey Nichols hosts a secret fashion show
Last Wednesday saw a very special, clandestine fashion show held in Birmingham. Harvey Nichols, based in Birmingham’s Mailbox, is known for bringing style and panache to their shows. The A/W 2013/4 show was a large and lavish affair, with more than 600 attendees. But current renovation work at the Mailbox necessitated a rethink, and the Harvey Nicks team did not disappoint. Moving on from the grand spectacle of last year, we were treated to an intimate affair that was quite literally the hottest ticket in town. Top secret, there were no tweets or posts until the very day, and 600 guests were replaced by a guest list of just 120…
