Art Deco styling from Next
A good friend once said to me that Art Nouveau was all about summer – pretty colours, swirls and florals, but that Art Deco was Winter – a stark palette of black, white, cream with a few bright primary shades thrown in. I would take the metaphor further and say if Nouveau was day, then Deco was most definitely night. And maybe that’s what makes Art Deco styling so perfect for glamorous festive evening wear. Next have taken the Deco trend that has been such a key story in recent seasons and have reinvented it for Winter 2012. Taking all those stark, contrasting colours – the black and white, or…

Friday Shopping focus – M&Co 20% off all dresses
The new season has seen M&Co introduce a collection of beautiful dresses that I am finding hard to resist adding to my wardrobe. With influences that stretch from 1960s shifts, to 50s style full skirts and 1980s bodycon, there are dresses to suit every body shape and every taste. There are also dresses in a wide range of colours, including brights, which is fab as this is the time of year which traditionally embraces muted shades and monochrome. This weekend M&Co are offering 20% off a whole range of these wonderful dresses, giving you a nice little treat that also helps you to save the pennies too. As I have…

Autumn is the time when we relinquish our bare arms and the jackets come out in force. The weather isn’t actually freezing yet, but we need something that can banish that definite chill that lingers in the air. We basically need a jacket. Wallis has really come up trumps in the jacket department this season, with a range that takes in blazers, tuxedos and biker styles. But my favourite style this season is the waterfall jacket that has taken a step away from the block colour versions of past seasons, and has embraced pattern and print. I was asked to choose my favourite style, and had no hesitation in picking…

Duchess Kate – The final looks of a great tour wardrobe
The Duchess of Cambridge is now on her way back to the UK as I write, and has bid farewell to the beautiful islands and destinations that have welcomed both William and Kate so warmly. But before she left there were a few more glamorous outfits to be showcased, along with a wavy, more carefree hairstyle that showed that even those famous chestnut locks aren’t safe from tropical humidity. The navy blue, broderie anglaise dress from Mulberry has been a major hit for Kate, possibly because it has such a youthful feel to it, Kate teamed it with her Stuart Weitzman wedges, which matched perfectly. This dress has such a…

Debenhams gives you your own capsule Duchess Kate wardrobe this season
The Duchess of Cambridge has become one of the world’s leading style icons in the year since her wedding to Prince William. She rarely puts a foot wrong stylewise, and whilst some have accused her of being a little boring in her style choices, the truth is that she just chooses pieces that have a classic look that she can revisit and revamp again and again. Her look is sophisticated, flawless and elegant. No wonder everything that she wears proves to be an instant sell out, and that the world’s leading designers are now flocking to dress her. For her recent tour, that has included Alexander McQueen, Prabal Gurung, Mulberry,…
