The red carpet conveyor belt is rolling on, with Sunday seeing the 2018 Grammy Awards taking place. Rock n Roll’s most prestigious night of the year saw a red carpet filled with musics brightest and best, all in their finery, with many holding or wearing a white rose, the latest symbol of support and sisterhood for the ‘me too’ campaigns.
The spectre of sexism and the abuse cases certainly could not be ignored, especially with Kesha giving an emotional performance, and Janelle Monae making a pointed comment in her presentation speech. A catagory dominated by women, Album of the Year, was won by the only man in the group, the distinctly average Ed Sheeran (just my opinion.). The women in the room clearly still felt that the issues that have hit the film world are alive and kicking in the music industry too.
In terms of fashion, the Grammy’s are not necessarily the most stylish, but they can be interesting. My own personal favourites were Lady Gaga, who went from flashing the flesh last year, to wearing breathtaking, custom made Armani Prive this year. Lana Del Rey was old school Hollywood, whilst Miley Cyrus rocked a gorgeous jumpsuit.
Who was your favourite on the night?
Lana Del Rey
