Sunday saw the world of TV’s most glittering night, as the most glamorous stars of the small screen (and a few megastars of the big screen too) turned out for the Emmy Awards. A very hot and humid night saw a fair few fashion disasters, and some seriously dodgy hair don’ts,, but there were also some absolutely dazzling dresses on display, from both new and old stars alike. Here are my picks, dresses that made me swoon. Nicole Kidman chose a column dress with sequin detail from Antonio Berardi. Kate goes to Hollywood…in Alexander McQueen
It was the night all Kate fans had been looking forward to, and the Duchess of Style didn’t disappoint. Kate looked absolutely amazing as she promoted two of British fashions biggest brands, Alexander McQueen and Jimmy Choo. Kate wore a beautiful Grecian style full length dress in lilac, with a silver white cumberband at the waistband. It had a style reminiscent of Fortuny pleats and looked very ethereal and floaty. She accessorised with stunning diamond chandelier earrings that were said to have been borrowed from The Queen, and an amazing (and high!) pair of silver Jimmy Choo vamp sandals and a matching clutch bag. Oscar night fashion awards…and the oscar goes to…?
The Oscars are the most important night of the year for the Hollywood fashionista’s. There have been so many memorable dresses over the years – Julia Roberts in Valentino vintage, Renee Zellweger in yellow Jean Desses, Kate Winslet in red Ben De Lisi and Nicole Kidman in Chartreuse John Galliano. There have also been the shock horrors of couture – Bjork coming as a swan, Cher in a red Indian style headdress and Celine Dion in a back to front tuxedo come to mind. Grammys fashion – good, bad and just insane!
Sunday night was a very busy night in the awards calendar. As well as the Baftas, The Grammys were also taking place, albeit on the other side of the Atlantic and in much better weather. The Grammys are renowned for interesting style choices, and this year was no exception. There were angel wings, extreme animal prints and Lady Gaga arriving in an egg!
