Style Icons of the month February – Rihanna and Adele
This is the first month where I’ve felt the need to add an ‘s’ to Icon, because this month was dominated by two ladies who require no surname, Adele and Rihanna. Other than the lack of surnames, these ladies don’t really have that much in common musically or stylewise, but they do have the knack of turning all eyes towards them when they walk the red carpet. And each has been rocking some seriously retro style this month, with Rihanna channelling Studio 54 glamour with a touch of Michelle Pfeiffer circa Scarface, whilst Adele shows she is the natural descendant of 1940s era Rita Hayworth with soft waves and shimmering…

Grammy fashion – Who made the grade.
The Grammy’s is always interesting in fashion terms (who could ever forget Gaga arriving in an egg?), but this year there was a sombre cloud hanging over the proceedings, following the death, just hours earlier, of Grammy winning superstar Whitney Houston. But the show did go on, and there was one undoubted winner on the night, both in the music and style stakes. Adele looked so beautiful in a Giorgio Armani black shimmering gown, with long sleeves and a slightly low back. Her hair was lighter and fixed in 1950s movie star waves. She was perfection, and swept the board with six Grammy wins out of six. Rihanna also wore…

V festival fashion- who was top of the pops?
For many festivals have become as much about watching the fashion as about the music. In the case of this years V festival I can say it was probably more interesting. As someone who loves Oasis, Kasabian, The Killers, Strokes etc, I can say that guitar bands seem to be in short supply, and there was an awful lot of pop and R&B/Rap on the menu. But festival style seems to improve each year. Here are some of my favourites, both on and off the stage. Rihanna I loved that Rihanna flew the flag in this cute Union Jack crop top. She has the body to make anything look good,…

The Met Ball – Frocky Horrors.
The Met ball was a night of High Fashion, but for every beautiful dress, there was a frocky horror story happening. Bad clothes did happen to good people on the evening. Here are the stars who really should’ve looked in a mirror before they left the house that evening! Rihanna. She wore a long lace Stella McCartney dress that raised that tiresome question – is she or isn’t she wearing any knickers. The quick answer is – who cares? Everyone has been adopting this look lately, even Kate Winslet, and it’s getting rather boring. And as for the Rapunzel red plait…get a haircut Rihanna. Rosie Huntington Whiteley, officially the sexiest…

The Brits – a host of Westwood and no eggs in sight!
The biggest night in British music took place in London last night. The Brit awards did not attract as many superstars as The Grammy awards, nor as many fashionistas to watch(with the honourable exception of Rihanna). There was no Kylie, no Lily Allen, no Florence Welch, but there were still many outfits to savour, and a few to commiserate with. Here is a quick rundown of those who won the style awards, and those who were the also-rans! Style Winners. Rihanna wore two stunning couture gowns on the night. She arrived in a Christian Dior Haute Couture dress that was the combination of a purple bodice and turquoise tulle skirt.…
