All I want for Christmas is a dress from Reiss

If you are after a really special dress this Christmas, then take a look at the latest collection from Reiss. Encompassing every look from full length and fabulous, pale and interesting, and over the top festive glitter, Reiss has a look for you, whatever the occasion. So many of the dresses evoke images of memorable red carpet looks from this season, from Ginnifer Goodwin at the Emmy awards, to Kiera Knightley, a vision in black lace at the Anna Karenina New York premiere.

And there are also looks reminiscent of red carpet looks that would now be categorised as classics. Kate Moss wearing a custom-made version of one of her own designs, and Rihanna, rocking a gorgeous design by Stella McCartney in 2010. Both of these looks can be created this Christmas with designs from Reiss, allowing you to create a style classic of your own.

Here are some more celebrity looks with my own interpretations from the Reiss dress collection.

Have you put on a Peplum yet?

The peplum is nothing new in fashion, but it might have taken you a while to try it out! If you’re anything like me then the strange new silhouette might have seemed a little intimidating at first, but once you try it out you’ll realise it’s the best thing in the world!

Everyone from Rihanna to Kate Middleton is catching on to the waist enhancing power of the peplum; it creates a waist for boyish figures and hides bloated stomachs if you’re having an off-day. Peplum dresses in particular create a great hourglass silhouette and look sophisticated as well as on trend – my favourite is the paisley-style printed dress below, you might not believe me yet but paisley is making a serious comeback!

The best way to style these is with minimal jewellery; keep it simple and let the dress make the statement for you. As well as being easy on the eye they’re easy to throw on and create a glamorous outfit without the expense!

You can’t walk through a shop right now without stumbling over these peplum pieces, they’re everywhere on the high street so I’ve chosen a few of my favourites from Quiz – they’ve got the biggest variety of peplum dresses I’ve seen so far and a huge variety of printed to choose from if you want to make sure you stand out from the crowd!

If you’re not the dress type then try out the peplum tops that are everywhere right now too; depending on your office dress code they look great for work or you can dress them down with jeans for the daytime. They’re surprisingly versatile for such a strange trend and a worthwhile investment if you struggle with putting outfits together in a hurry.

VMA’s Best Looks from Rihanna, Miley, Taylor and Rashida.

The Video music awards are always a great showcase for a range of looks that always seem to take in the sublime and the ridiculous. With the likes of Rihanna and Katy Perry on show, you know they are guaranteed to be anything but boring, and this year proved to be no exception. I have chosen a few of the looks that impressed me, from the edgy new look of Miley Cyrus, to the classic tuxedo style of the ever stylish Taylor Swift (who I can’t remember ever getting it wrong).

1. Miley Cyrus

I personally LOVE Miley’s new look. Her punky hairstyle gives her a touch of Pink and makes her stand out in the crowd. It sort of reminds me of when Ashlee Simpson cut her hair and went for a more edgy look – and I loved that style too. Miley chose a dress that I think Angelina Jolie would probably have worn ten years ago – no bad thing in my eyes. It had a witch/Twilight feel to it, and partnered with a beautiful clutch bag I thought this showed a different side to Miley that was as far removed from Hannah Montana as possible.

Rihanna

Rihanna looked simply stunning at the VMA’s. I loved her new haircut which showed off her beautiful face to perfection. The simple, Grecian style gown by Adam Selman just draped that body to perfection. This has to be one of my fave Rihanna looks ever – a departure from some of the more ghetto fabulous looks she has sported of late.

Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift looked incredible in a white J Mendel suit that conjured up all the images of Angelina Jolie, Bianca Jagger, Gwyneth Paltrow and all the other ladies who have channeled androgyny with an ultra feminine edge. Taylor made this an ultra glamorous look with red lips, gold sandals and sleek hair.

Rashida Jones

Rashida Jones looked smoking hot in her black leather dress. I love the simplicity of this look, all the attention is taken by the choice of fabric – imagine this in anything other than leather and it becomes a simple cocktail dress. The choice of shoeboot is fabulous too, and then her hair and make are actually sophisticated, therefore making this a very grown up look – despite all that leather.
