X Factor Live show Fash Off – Week 1
Well, it is back with a bang, and if last night’s live vote was anything to go by, then singing is not the most important thing about the X Factor ( Rylan is apparently a better act than the beautiful, talented Carolynne..who would’ve believed that???). So I will concentrate on one of my favourite aspects of X Factor, the fash-off. Last year, the lovely Kelly Rowland was the absolute clear winner in the style stakes, choosing beautiful dress after beautiful dress and leaving Tulisa frankly in the shade. But with Kelly gone, Tulisa faced a new challenge from Nicole Scherzinger. So who would win the battle of the opening week…

The Bletchley Circle – Loving Millie and her glamour
I’m a bit of a latecomer to The Bletchley Circle, I sky +d it so I could watch ‘Good Cop’ and shamelessly drool over Warren Brown. But I’ve watched two episodes this weekend, and have found myself falling in love with the fabulous glamour and style of Millie, played by the wonderful Rachael Stirling. The Bletchley Circle is set in the early 1950s, but forget about any Marilyn Monroe/Grace Kelly sort of 1950s glamour. This is Austerity Britain, a time when ration books were still de rigueur and when you found glamour and elegance where you could. Millie is a slightly bohemian character, all auburn hair and long swishing headscarves.…

Jian of London’s Stardust press launch – gemstones, manicures and cupcakes!
Last Thursday saw the glorious launch of Jian of London’s stunning Stardust jewellery collection in the sumptuous surroundings of Four London’s beautiful Conduit Street Salon. This event combined exquisite jewellery with a host of pampering treats and lashings of champagne, canapes and cupcakes. The event was to showcase the stunning jewellery designs of Jane Massie and Jian of London before the official launch in September. I had a chance to be properly introduced to the brand, which only launched in the UK three years ago. Jane explained to me that previous to this, she had lived in the USA, and that she had found the UK market to be quite…

Is Sex and the City coming back to television?
This is the big rumour this morning…and if it is true, it would absolutely make my year! According to some sources, including today’s Mail on Sunday, the iconic and much missed Sex and the City may be making a welcome return..to TV. It seems that another tv show is a definite possibility. The Mail says ‘Sarah Jessica Parker will be producing. She was worried about doing another film after the bad reaction to the SATC2 movie, but a TV show is definitely something she wants to happen.’ However, Darren Starr, the creator of the show, has not given his final yes, but if SJP is on board, that yes may…

Bree Van De Kamp – A television Style Icon.
And so Desperate Housewives is to end. The series, which relaunched Terri Hatcher and made a star of Eva Longaria has finally been axed, after it was decided that enough serial killers, accidental killers, child snatchers and people with secrets had moved into one suburban street, particularly one with a name as pretty as Wysteria Lane. I stopped watching quite a while back, but still think that we should mourn the passing of a true TV style icon, Bree Van De Kamp, as played by the gorgeous Marcia Cross. Bree was the only style star of Desperate Housewives, she was the Carrie Bradshaw of Wysteria Lane. Not that Bree and…
