The Curious Incident of the dog – Just awe-inspiring.

Every so often (if I am are truly lucky) I get to experience a piece of theatre that leaves me totally awestruck. Last night, at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre,  was just one of the those nights. The National Theatre production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time, a play by Simon Stephens, based on the novel by Mark Haddon, is one of the most astounding pieces of theatre I have ever watched. With a star-making central performance by Joshua Jenkins, and an ensemble cast that would be hard to beat, I left the theatre both laughing and crying about what I had watched. The play is centred…

Forget 50 Shades, for fans of fairytale romance and opulent costumes, the real cinematic treat of the year opens next month. Kenneth Branagh’s retelling of Cinderella, featuring Downton Abbey star Lily James as the epoynmous heroine, has already received some great reviews, and promises to bring frothy, glittering fun to the screen, with dresses fit for Disney princesses. 50 Shades of Dakota Johnson

It has been the most anticipated movie in years, and over the past weekend ’50 Shades of Grey’ has been breaking box office records all over the country. I must admit to being one of the few people who have no interest in seeing the film:- I hated the book and can’t really see how the film will be any better. I am interested, however, in the wardrobe of the film’s leading lady, the gorgeous Dakota Johnson. Dakota is not only breathing life into the seriously annoying Anastasia Steele, she is also lighting up red carpets everywhere with her fabulous wardrobe. This is a lady who knows exactly how to…

Making Pancakes with BlueZoo and Debenhams

Pancake Day must be rated as Joe’s favourite food event, he absolutely loves them, especially if eaten with ice cream or chocolate sauce. I, on the other hand, hate them with a passion, which, in the past, has made Shrove Tuesday, aka Pancake Day, a total non-event for me. But taking Joe’s love for the stuff into account, an invitation from Debenhams, and, in particular their fabulous clothing brand BlueZoo, to make pancakes with some new kitchen equipment` and lovely new season clothes for Joe was an offer that we couldn’t refuse. It was off to the supermarket to get batter mix and eggs for us. Pancakes are such a…
