This week we have been treated to sightings of both Middleton sister’s wearing evening attire. And it seems that long-sleeved and demure are the buzzwords when it comes to the looks they have both chosen to adopt. Ladylike and glamorous would definitely apply to both dresses, heralding a new era of grown-up evening style. Kate attended the 100 women in hedge funds black tie gala wearing a beautiful, vibrant red jersey dress with chiffon sleeves by London Label Beulah. The dress, named ‘Sarai’. was another astute choice by Kate, for the Beulah label was started by Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs to provide work for victims of human trafficking in India.…

The Duchess of Cambridge made a welcome return to the public stage todaywhen she and Prince William made a visit to the Royal Marsden hospital where they opened a new children’s cancer unit. Kate was wearing a designer who seems to have become a royal favourite, Amanda Wakeley, and looked as elegant as ever in an oatmeal long-sleeved shift dress, described as ‘sculpted felt’. She wore this with her favourite LK Bennett nude court shoes and with her hair soft and flowing. There was a rare sighting of the Duchess of Cambridge this weekend, as she attended…you’ve guessed it…yet another society wedding. Kate was attending the wedding of Harriet Colthurst and Thomas Sutton, and looked beautiful wearing a raspberry coloured lace dress by Collette Dinnigan with Prada heels. At first I thought the dress may have been another Erdum design, as it was similar in style to the navy lace dress that she wore when she touched down in Canada. Caryn Franklin show wows at Pavilions.
One of the highlights of this weekend’s Style Birmingham Live was the fabulous ‘How to look good’ show hosted by Caryn Franklin in Pavilions. I went along to the preview of Thursday evening and was really impressed by a fashion show that was truly universal, appealing to all ages, shapes and sizes and to all budgets. This was a show that showcased the best Pavilions has to offer in the way of fashion, accessories and beauty. The undoubted breakout star of 2011 has been Adele. Musically she has dominated both the album and singles charts, and she has provided a beautiful role model for those girls who do not have a size 10 figure.
