W.E. – It’s almost time for Wallis to Rule
The reviews aren’t exactly glowing, but I’m still very excited about Madonna’s new movie about the great love affair between Edward and Mrs Simpson. The film is released on 20th January, with Angela Riseborough playing Wallis, and from film stills and publicity shots I have seen pre-release, this is going to be a supremely stylish affair. Any film about the Duchess of Windsor is always going to feature fashion heavily. Clothes were important to Wallis, she believed that not being the most beautiful women in the world mattered far less if you were the best dressed. Wallis was always exquisitely turned out, favouring designers like Mainbocher and Schiaparelli, and having…

Style Icon of the Month – Sarah Jessica Parker
There was only one choice for the style icon to round off the year. Sarah Jessica Parker has looked totally fabulous the whole month through, attending a whole host of occasions and on the premiere trail for new movie, New Year. From vintage Pauline Trigere, Theyskens Theory and Louis Vuitton, she has shown over and over again why she is one of the most iconic fashionistas of all time. Her looks have ranged from princessy feathers to funky coloured tights. DVF 60s style mini dresses to white lace chic Stella McCartney numbers, there is no limit to SJP’s scope for reinvention. My favourite dress is the early 1960s style black…

1920s Splendour – Carey Mulligan and The Great Gatsby
As any regular Fashion-Mommy reader will know, I’m having a bit of a 1920s/Art Deco fashion obsessive moment. I just seem to have full in love with feathers, fringes and flappers. So for me, one of the highlights of 2012 will be the release of Baz Luhrmann’s version of The Great Gatsby starring the luminous Carey Mulligan. I have adored this book since I was a teenager, reading it on numerous occasions and also searching out other F Scott Fitzgerald books like Tender is the Night and The Beautiful and the Damned. But I have never felt film versions have done justice to the book, the 1970s version starring Mia Farrow…

Gorgeous Celebrity Jingle Bells…steal their looks.
The party season is well and truly in swing, but if you haven’t got your outfit sorted yet, maybe you could take some style inspiration from some celebrity fashionistas. There is a style for everyone, and these ladies show that at Christmas, it really is a case of anything goes, from full length beauties to short and sexy styles, taking in a bit of androgynous style along the way. Lea Michele wore an amazing sparkling Valentino number for the premiere of her film ‘New Year’s Eve’. This style will definitely catch the eye and make you the centre of attention, but take a tip from Lea and let the dress…

Halloween – a feast of dark and gothic looks
The witching hour is almost upon us and the looks on show are decidedly dark and gothic. With Kristen Stewart and Daphne Guinness as muses, along with the high interest in Twilight sequels and all thinks vampire, there is a real fashion interest in the dark side. Leather, lace and heavy velvet in every shade of blue (midnight of course!) and black are all over the High Street and catwalks. So embrace a bit of black magic and make this Halloween the most spooky, and yet most stylish ever. Poster girls for Gothic Glamour. Here are some of the key picks for the Halloween trend. This Miss Selfridge maxi dress…
