Style Icon of the Month August – Lady Gaga.
I have always admired Lady Gaga has an icon of style. But rather like the way you admire Erno Goldfinger‘s tower blocks, but wouldn’t want to live in them, I admired Gaga’s crazy meat dresses, sequined lobster hats and crazy shoes, but could never see anyone else wearing them. V festival fashion- who was top of the pops?
For many festivals have become as much about watching the fashion as about the music. In the case of this years V festival I can say it was probably more interesting. As someone who loves Oasis, Kasabian, The Killers, Strokes etc, I can say that guitar bands seem to be in short supply, and there was an awful lot of pop and R&B/Rap on the menu. I’ve just been previewing the gorgeous new collection from one of my High Street faves Dorothy Perkins, and its safe to say that if Spring/Summer 11 was all about the all-in-one jumpsuits, the Autumn/Winter is all about the dress. Kate and Pippa make a re-appearance.
We haven’t seen that much of the lovely Duchess of Cambridge since that tour of Canada and America have we? A royal wedding, her rather uncomfortable viewing of the dress as the staging was declared horrid, and that’s been it. And thinking about it, we haven’t seen much of her little sister either. She was photographed almost daily during the month of June, from trips to Spain and France, to Wimbledon, and then almost daily, collecting her Starbucks on her way to work. BHS present a wonderful, traditional Christmas…in July!
I was lucky enough to be put on the guest list for the BHS Christmas in July press preview last week. This was a real treat for me as BHS is always one of my must visit destinations at Christmas, mainly for its fantastic array of Christmas decorations. But the press preview gave me a great glimpse of the things we will be buying from BHS in the months ahead. And I have to say, there is so much more to the collections that crackers and tinsel!
