The Bullring Bloggers Event
Last Thursday saw the first Bullring Bloggers event, which combined beauty, food and fashion previews for the coming season. The event was held in the hospitality suite hidden within the Bullring, and I was lucky enough to receive an invitation to what was a lovely evening of all my favourite things. New Look inspire – A focus on pretty tops
My latest selection of reviews for New Look are focusing on tops, well, a top and a blouse to be more specific. I was super impressed with the style and print from the tube skirt, so I was interested to see if the top selection would be as impressive. With that in mind, I chose something that I would normally choose (a top that was stretchy, with no front buttons) and something that was outside of my comfort zone (a blouse, buttoned down the front). I am a huge fan of Barbara Hulanicki, since reading her autobiography I was fascinated by her drive and glamour, and the allure of Biba, which even now, almost 40 years since it shut it’s doors, still has the aura of decadence and beauty, and a glamorous mystique which I don’t think can be applied to any other shop or store. My summer television treat has been ‘This Old Thing – the Vintage Clothes Show’. Presented by Dawn O Porter, ‘This Old thing’ is a delve into the world of vintage fashion and how to shop for it. I love anything shopping related, and this series shows some of the beautiful items that can be found if you have a magpie’s eye. But as much as I have loved the series, I do think it has uncovered some of the major problems of shopping vintage. In recent years, the Kimono has become an essential part of our summer wardrobes.
