Silver & Grey Glamour At Dorothy Perkins
In the 1990s, there was no more glamorous couple than Johnny Depp and Kate Moss. I’m mentioning this because, this season, one of Kate’s most memorable early red carpet looks, from her time with Depp, is a key style inspiration. The simple grey shift dress was elegant, chic and remains totally timeless, and this Autumn the grey shade that totally made the dress is going to be a new style crush (along with silver shades) when it comes to a little bit of evening glamour. Grey is most definitely the new black. It has always had a place in the wardrobe as part of a workwear suit. Most of us…

BetterVouchers.com – finding the best deals for you.
Question: Have you ever decided to buy something and then searched the internet for a voucher code? The answer is probably yes. Next question. Have you ever searched the voucher code sites and ended up really disappointed – no real offers, directory listings that are being advertised as ‘offers’ or ‘offers’ that you can find when you go shopping anyway – things like free returns or free delivery? I’m guessing the answer is probably yes once again. It is so frustrating that my voucher sites fill their pages full of offers, discounts and bargains that are anything but. This is why I am so impressed with the ethics and ethos…

Why I still love shopping from a catalogue
When I look back and try to decide where my interest in fashion came from, I find it very easy to give an answer. It was the Kays catalogue! In the early 1980s my mom always used to shop from catalogues, and Kays was her absolute favourite. It was always an exciting moment when the new one was delivered encased in its box and I don’t mind admitting that I savoured every page and would look through it over and over again. I can clearly remember the first issue I ever looked through was very influenced by Princess Diana – all the models seemed to be wearing pill box style…

Selfridges Christmas – Journey to the Stars
Christmas in July has been and gone, with Selfridges once again pushing the boundaries when it comes to unusual Christmas campaigns. This year the theme is a mystical, celestial one, with the title being ‘Journey to the Stars’ and the focus being the Christmas star, linking collections to astronomy, astrology and spirituality. This theme led to a truly magical press day, with an abundance of midnight blue and silver when it came to fashion. Handbags from the likes of Vivienne Westwood, Alexandra McQueen and Marc Jacobs all tied in beautifully with the theme, and astrological star sign jewellery from Tatty Devine is sure to be a popular Christmas gift this…

Stylish television – Partners in Crime
It seems that Sunday nights at the BBC are determined to transport us back in time to the 1950s. Hot on the heels of The Outcast, we have ‘Partners in Crime’, based on Agatha Christie stories about Tommy and Tuppence Beresford, originally set in the 1920s, but moved forward in time to the 1950s. Jessica Raine plays Tuppence Beresford, a glamorous accidental detective with a wardrobe to just about die for. Partners in Crime may be set in the 1950s, but the wardrobe bares little resemblance to the full skirted prom style dresses and floral prints of The Outcast. (You can read all about the fashion of that series here.)…
