Five Minutes with Helen Boyle – a quick chat with a Fashionista.
Fashion-Mommy was lucky enough to meet Fashion stylist and TV presenter Helen Boyle at the ‘Newlife at Home’ launch. Helen is a true fashionista, with more than ten years experience in the fashion industry. Sha has worked as the resident fashion stylist on ITV’s ‘This Morning’ and was more recently the fashion producer and co-presenter on Sky 1’s ‘Angela and friends’. In addition to this, Helen was the fashion producer on one of my favourite programmes, Channel 4’s ‘Gok’s Fashion Fix‘. Fashion-Mommy was able to put a few questions to a true style heroine. Fashion-Mommy: How did you get into fashion? Helen Boyle: Through sheer hard work. I started of…

TK MAXX OPENS IN WEDNESBURY.
A look back at the opening of TK Maxx at The Gallagher Retail Park in Wednesbury in 2010. Fashionista’s of Wednesbury rejoice! You have a new fashion emporium on your doorstep. Today was the day of the grand opening of the new TK MAXX store on the Gallagher Retail Park, and Fashion Mommy was invited along to take a look. There was already a long queue of eager fashionista’s waiting for the store to open when Fashion-Mommy arrived. They had been lured with the promise of a free goodie bag for the first 500 lucky customers through the doors, along with a £10 gift voucher to spend in store. Lots…

Grace Kelly at the V&A.
Revisiting a post from 2010. Fashion-mommy was lucky enough to see the Grace Kelly Style exhibition at the V&A last week. After depositing Baba safely with Grandad Mick, and taking a strangely leisurely train journey into the Capital, Fashion-Mommy and her three favourite girlies (My own fashion mommy, sister and BFF Dawn) all spent a wonderful hour or so admiring the wardrobe of a true fashionista, with an ageless style that has certainly transcended the decades. The V&A was very busy, with all Grace Kelly tickets sold out for the day. I’d like to think this had less to do with the pouring rain and more to do with real…

Is it too early for a 1990’s fashion revival?
A look back to this post from 2010. According to the October edition of Vogue, there is a 1990’s revival occurring in fashion. This made me shudder in disbelief, the 1990’s don’t seem to be far away enough in the past to be subject to a revival. Nor do they seem to be a distinctive enough style decade to warrant said revival. This got fashion-mommy thinking about her 90’s style, and the decade in general in order to try to answer the question ‘is it too early for a 90’s style revival, and if it is not, is it really worth reviving anyway? Early 1990s My early 90’s style was…

Bedroom Furnishing
Furnishing a bedroom from afresh can be a daunting prospect, however design wise, these days pretty much anything goes. Adding a beautifully crafted lamp and expensive designer bed linen will draw the eye away from a mass manufactured wardrobe and bedside table, or a plain looking bed. Mixing and matching is perfectly acceptable, gone are the days when the bedroom ‘set’ needs to match the vanity, it all depends on how creative and imaginative we can be when choosing a look for the bedroom. For those who have neither the creativity nor the time to indulge in fantastical ideas, matching bedroom units are a simple yet effective way of furnishing…
