Slenderella: Beautiful Sleep And Loungewear

Sleepwear is no longer just for sleeping in. We seem, more and more, to want comfort and cosiness when we are at home, especially after a hard day at work, and sometimes we just want a pyjama day, where we sit in front of the TV in our jammies, watching Box Sets and eating ice cream. On those days, we don’t really want to get dressed, we just want to lounge.

Slenderella is a company that knows what women want when it comes to comfort. They stock a beautiful range of lingerie and nightwear, and also tick all the right boxes when it comes to lounge wear. One of my fave pieces from their current range is the Slenderella Minky fleece lounge pyjama, which comes in both pink and grey.

The Minky Fleece pyjama set is quite possibly the comfiest and cosiest pyjama that you will ever wear. The set is quite literally a hug in clothes form. The fleece is super soft, and very warm, and I love the fact that both the top and bottoms are semi fitted, rather than the baggy design that can often ruin pyjamas.

The animal print is very modern and stylish, and keeps the design looking feminine, as the button through look can be quite manly when made in cotton.

The design is comfortable as the bottoms have an elasticated waistband, and the finish shows its quality with satin piping around the cuffs. The overall look is stylish and practical, but not frumpy, and, as they are not sheer in any way you can certainly open the door to the postman without any blushes.

Although these do come in this super soft fabric, they are actually 100% polyester, and so they are 40degree machine washable, meaning you can just throw them in with your usual load. They come in 4 sizes, I am wearing size large (14-16) and this is my perfect fit, but if you did want to wear them looser and oversized I would suggest you size up

We all need those days when we sit, drink coffee and watch rubbish TV. Slenderella Minky fleece pjs are what you should be wearing when you do this – far too nice to just wear for bed!

John Lewis Beach Safari edit

When it comes to colours and trends that sum up Summer perfectly, the colours, tones and patterns of safari style are pretty hard to beat. Jungle style prints and neutral beige, khaki and nude tones can easily transport you to a place of sun, sea and sand, even when you are feeling the heat in the city.

John Lewis have launched summer with a style edit called ‘Beach Safari’. An eclectic mixture of John Lewis’s own collection and selected brands, this range is chocked full of animal prints, natural shades and simple clean lines.

What makes this collection stand out from the general safari style looks is the addition of luxe fabrics. Think silk – both the wafer thin and the heavier varieties. Think leather in the form of Gerald Darel pieces in stunning cognac shades. Think unusual suede for sandals and lots and lots of different straw bags. The luxe nature of this collection makes it highly covetable, totally wearable and ultimately timeless – these are pieces that will find a space in your wardrobe easily and then earn their keep by being worn again and again.

Here is my edit of the John Lewis edit. I am totally in love with this – what are your thoughts?

TM Lewin’s dress collection goes from Strength to Strength

Do you remember the days when you would go to TM Lewin when you needed a smart shirt to wear underneath your work suit? For years, TM Lewin built its reputation on providing the perfect shirt that was suitable for work wear, for both men and women. But now it is also becoming a great destination to find versatile dresses that can take you from the office to the restaurant just by changing your shoes and accessories.

I reviewed a TM Lewin dress from the Summer collection and was really impressed with the cut, quality and style. The new season is continuing where Summer left off, with great prints and easy to wear styles that have both practicality and sophistication. The Stella Ruche dress is an excellent example of this.

The Stella Ruche dress is a soft, jersey style dress that can be put on over the head (no zips or buttons!). It has a gorgeous ruched detail on the side that helps to define the waist, and the striking animal print has a deep blue running through it that is both unusual and smart. The fabric, which is 95% polyester, 5% elastane, feels almost like a brushed velour, it has such quality to it. The style sits on the knee, and could easily be worn with either boots, heels or flat shoes to create different looks.

DSCN9576This dress is truly versatile, it wouldn’t look out of place for smart work wear, or worn for an evening out, which is how I wore it for a special birthday meal for my sister-in-law at a gastropub. I added blue heels to draw out the colour of the pattern, and a silver necklace that sat on the boat style neckline. It was cold so I added opaque tights, but I think this dress could be trans-seasonal and you could certainly go bare legged if the weather permitted.
