Bianca Jagger’s 70s style with Boohoo
If I had to choose my favourite style decade, I would probably choose the 1970s. I am a child of the 1970s (born in June 1974, when The Rubettes were number one with Sugar Baby Love – totally love that song!) and love all the styles of that decade, from Glam Rock to Punk. But the trend I love most from that decade has to be the ultra glamorous, Halston dominated, Studio 54 era. Studio 54 was the domain of the beautiful people of the 1970s. From Margeaux Hemingway, to David Bowie, via Andy Warhol, Rudolph Nureyev and Liza Minnelli, all the biggest stars flocked to the decadent, disco-era nightclub…

Five Minutes with Tim Driesen from Jersey Boys
Ahead of a Christmas run at the New Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham, I had the opportunity to chat to Tim Driesen, who is playing Frankie Valli in Jersey Boys. The full interview is currently on the Style Birmingham website (you can read it here), but here are a few of Tim’s selected musings on Jersey Boys, Boy Bands and all things Christmas. On Frankie Valli ‘…I met Frankie Valli and was lucky enough to spend a morning with him. He is such a down-to-Earth guy, a real grafter. He has been in business since he was 15, and he’s now 80 and still doing 50-60 gigs a year. Music is…

Teksta T-Rex – possibly the perfect pet!
He walks, he roars. He chews his bone and then happily burps and then chews some more. He can launch his bone into the air, and responds when you stroke his face. He can do all of this, yet never wrecks the Christmas tree, leaves a mess on the carpet, or requires vets bills. Yes, the Teksta T-Rex may just be the best pet you could buy. The Teksta T-Rex is a gorgeous white and red robotic dinosaur which responds to your voice, actions, motions, lights and sounds in order to perform a series of actions. Easy to programme using the two mode buttons on the top of his head,…

The prettiest Grotto in Birmingham opens at House of Fraser
The most beautiful grotto in the Midands opened today in House of Fraser, Birmingham, promising to bring magic and festive cheer to all who visit. The House of Fraser grotto is run by the Harry Moseley Charity #HHHO (Help Harry Help Others) with all proceeds from admission tickets helping to raise vital funds. We were lucky enough to be invited along on Tuesday for a preview and promptly fell in love with the whole experience. The Grotto, which features a very realistic Santa who seems fresh from Miracle on 34th Street, is preceded by a magical Christmas village display, complete with animated penguins and Reindeers. There are house frontages where…

This Christmas – check out a Charity Shop
As regular readers of this blog know, I am a huge fan of Charity Shops. I love the fact that you can find a bargain, sometimes brand new with tags, sometimes a vintage treasure, and that you can pick it up for very little money. I also love the fact that buying your item means that you are contributing to one of the many goodwill causes that need a little extra help at this time of year. The Salvation Army have this year been setting #MyCharityChallenge. This is to get people to think about Charity shops at Christmas – either by donating unwanted items to their local shops, or by…
