Liberty update the saddle bag for 2015
The Saddle bag was undoubtedly the bag of the 1970s. Nothing looked better than it when teamed with flared jeans and a cheesecloth blouse, but it also totally fitted the bill with the more slinky printed wrap dresses a la Diane Von Furstenberg. Worn cross body, or swinging from the shoulder, this grown up version of a satchel had plenty of room for all those essentials, and yet still managed to be compact and elegant. In recent times, the saddle bag has been revitalised by the likes of Zatchels and Ralph Lauren, and has gained a new army of celebrity fans. Taylor Swift seems to have a whole variety of…

Lulu Guinness celebrates 25 years of gorgeous bags
One of the most iconic of British designers has this year celebrated 25 years of creating beautiful and unique handbags and luggage. Lulu Guinness launched her first range of classic bags in 1989, and now has a realm of celebrity fans, and a string of iconic designs, two of which, the flower basket and the Lips clutch, have a place in the V&A. Retail Royalty Challenge – Giving a bit back
When I was approached about taking part in the Retail Royalty challenge being run by the Money Supermarket, I was really intrigued by the premise. The idea was simple, could you use £30 to purchase something for your chosen charity to either use, or sell on? You needed to choose a charity that was close to your heart, and then decide what to get for them. I decided to support my favourite charity shop. Acorns, in Wednesbury, is a shop that I have known for a long time, my mom has managed the store for many years and I have often helped out when I have had some spare time.…

Friday Focus – M&Co’s monochrome magic
Classic black and white never really goes out of style, does it. Think of Julia Roberts collecting her Oscar in Vintage Valentino, or Audrey Hepburn wearing Givenchy in Sabrina and you see the images of women looking classic and elegant in that most complimentary of colour combinations. Just this week, Julianne Moore wowed at the Golden Globes in her Tom Ford monochrome gown, whilst Frieda Pinto showed that black and white can also be fun and flirty at the LA Bafta’s tea party. Black and white are the combination you can turn to when you want to make sure you have everything just right, it will never fail you. High…

Spartoo – they do bags too!
As many regular Fashion-Mommy readers know, I am a huge fan of Spartoo – the online site which is a treasure trove for those who adore shoes. So imagine my excitement when I discovered that Spartoo now stocked bags too. If there’s one thing that I love as much as I love shoes – its bags, and Spartoo has a range of bags that has me salivating. Ranging from favourite designer names like Vivienne Westwood, Paul and Joe Sister and Guess, to hot high street labels like Benetton, Sisley and Desigual, every sort of bag is represented. I love that you can find everything from the funkiest rucksack for young…
