Fashion Focus – Ankle Boots

In my humble opinion, a good pair of ankle boots, especially one with some sort of heel, is the most versatile footwear in your wardrobe, and one you should not be without when putting together any sort of capsule wardrobe. They can be worn as an everyday staple under jeans and trousers, and, if you opt for leather, they will also be all weather proof. Choose a stylish suede pair, with either a kitten or stiletto heel are perfect with a bodycon or shift dress and add an edge to any outfit.

I don’t mind admitting that, when Winter really sets in, I live in ankle boots. Currently my hero pair are from Clarks. They have a square heel, are black leather and are durable and hard wearing. I’m reaching for them every single day as they are the sort of boots that would keep you upright on an ice rink.  For evenings or more dressy occasions I am wearing a black suede pair with studs and a more spiky heel – more of a shoe boot style, and find that these are still glamorous enough to wear with a dress. (You can see those boots in this post here).

Now is a great time to invest in a new pair of ankle boots as there are some really good sales on, and many boots have got some good savings. You can buy womens boots online here. This is great as we have at least two months of needing boots due to the weather, and most of us still remain faithful through the Spring too. (Unless of course we get a scorcher, in which case the sandals appear – and, of course, by a scorcher I mean firing the barbecue up when it reaches 14degrees…)

I have rounded up some of the designs that have caught my eye, many of which, indeed, have good savings.

Do you have a favourite pair of ankle boots that you wear all the time?

Halloween fashion ‘thrillers’

When you ask most people what they love about the month of October, they will probably mention Halloween in their answer. At one time Halloween seemed to be more popular in America than in the UK, but that is no longer the case. Trick or Treat, Halloween parties and dressing up are all much anticipated and enjoyed, and, as the end of the month is drawing ever nearer, people are beginning to think about their costumes.

There are plenty of celebrities to take your Halloween inspiration from, because, let’s face it, some celebrities love nothing more than getting dressed up in their best spooky costumes come All Hallows Eve. Kim Kardashian, Kate Moss, Heidi Klum, Hilary Duff and Christina Aguilara have all been photographed in some pretty amazing costumes over the years, although for some, the link to Halloween is more tentative. (Yes, I’m talking to you Kim.)

Topshop has launched a fantastic Halloween section which allows you to bring the fashion of the witching hour into your daily wardrobe. These are pieces you could wear to attend an Halloween party if you wanted to avoid a full costume, or just fun items that you could wear almost anytime of the year. I love the Spooky embroidered slippers that have just a touch of Charlotte Olympia to them, and the metallic cross back midi dress is super sexy and would look so glam teamed with a black Morticia wig and the red devils horns.

I’m ending this post in a slightly different way by sharing two of my favourite Halloween themed songs – Just because. Enjoy!

What are you planning to do this Halloween? Will it involve dressing up (keep those answers clean folks!)

Bingocams – Putting the fun back into bingo

I was in Blackpool at the weekend, and had the most amazing time. It was sunny and warm, really busy and alive, the illuminations were on and it was just lovely. Of course, we spent quite a bit of time in the amusement arcades and, as always, the games I instinctively headed to were the bingo machines. I love the adrenaline buzz you get when your numbers come out, and the feeling when you win (I won £1 – I was so excited, sad but true.) It did get me thinking. I’m not a gambler as such, I like the odd game, either at the seaside, or occasionally online, but I honestly don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t love bingo.

My little boy plays it at school with letters as well as numbers, and is just so proud if he wins a sticker or a sweet. Celebrities ranging from Robbie Williams, Kate Moss, Sadie Frost, Bono and Russell Crowe are all fans of the game, whilst Cristiano Ronaldo credits bingo with helping to improve his English. Now, bingo experts Bingocams are moving online bingo to the next stage by making online bingo the community based social activity it is in the bingo halls of old.

You can play online with your family and friends, or make new ones from the online community. You can share news of your wins online in real time either by joining in an ongoing group chat, or by having a private one to one chat through that function. You can play online bingo in the same way you have always played, but with the unique opportunity to share your experiences with friends or like-minded people, if you wish too.

Have you ever played online bingo? Would you ever join an online bingo society or webchat?
