Reviewed – Lace and Jersey Dress from Kaliko

On Friday night I was lucky enough to attend the press night for the Birmingham Royal Ballet’s opening of The Nutcracker. It was really enjoyable, a truly wonderful night, and it was made even better by having the chance to wear another beautiful dress from Kaliko. I find that Kaliko dresses have a timeless elegant quality – you always feel good wearing them. This dress was no exception to the rule – I think it is just lovely. The dress in question is ‘Lace and Jersey dress’, which is currently in the sale as Black Friday weekend continues. The dress is in a very soft jersey fabric, with plenty of…

Reviewed – Navy Lace Shift Dress from Kaliko

Last Thursday saw one of the most swish, stylish events in the Midlands fashion calender. The Harvey Nichols fashion show is always full of fashion, fizz and supremely stylish looks – an event where everyone dresses to impress. I was a little stumped for what to wear for this particular show as it was taking place in a specially constructed space in the Mailbox car park, so I was worried it might be a little cold, and I also wanted something bright to stand out amongst the grey and concrete. Now, I’d given birth just 8 months earlier and was not feeling particularly glam or body confident, so I needed a dress that would make me feel beautiful, if only for a night. The brand I turned to was Gina Bacconi, a brand who understand about glamour and can dress curvy figures. I have to say I loved my dress and how it made me feel. Flash forward five years and…

Wallis Blue Lace Shift Dress reviewed

My next review in my ‘life begins at 40’ series is the dress I actually wore for my birthday celebrations yesterday. It was gifted by one of my favourite brands, Wallis, and came in a stunning deep blue shade that my mom has long exclaimed to be ‘my colour’. The blue lace shift dress is a gorgeously vibrant 60s style frock. It has a double layer effect, with a sort of crocheted lace top layer, and then a stretchy block underlayer. With no buttons or zips, this is a style you simply put over your head, and the nature of the fabric means no ironing is required – making this…

The Kardashian Collection arrives at Lipsy

In the week that Kim and Kanye announced their engagement, ensuing maximum amount of column inches to everything and anything involving the couple, those Kardashian ladies unveiled their latest bid for world domination with their first collection for Lipsy. This has been a much – anticipated collection, especially since a series of suitably glamorous images of the Kim, Khloe and Kourtney had been released showing them wearing some of the key pieces.  The Kardashian name has always been one that is associated with high-octane glamour, and this range is further endorsement of this, with a series of glamorous dresses in lace and animal prints, in bodycon style. One dress in…
