Happy Birthday Style Birmingham #Style50

Last week so the most glittering, glamorous party of the year in Birmingham. Style Birmingham magazine was celebrating 50 issues and 10 years with a glamorous shindig in the new Canalside venue. The champagne flowed, the music played and the food was deliciously naughty, and I was lucky enough to have an invite. So, with my sister Jodie as my plus one, I had the naughtiest, most decadent school night in quite a while.

The canalside venue at The Cube looked amazing. I was lucky enough to have had a tour around the site before it was finished, and had basically struggled to see how this would be a venue, despite the stunning views across the canal. But the blank space proved to be the perfect canvas, and with blow up sofas, bars in three corners of the room, giant light up letters spelling out style, and a 1970s, Studio 54 style light up dancefloor, this was the perfect venue for a very special occasion.

The party had been organised by Style and East Village Life, one of Birmingham’s leading PR companies and one who certainly know how to throw a party. There was a Champagne bar, a cocktail bar serving specially created cocktails for the evening (I had the East Village and it was divine!), as well as a bottle bar for those who like their drinks to be made with hops. The food consisted of delicious burgers, pizza and churros with chocolate sauce, but there was also a cute candy floss stall offering all flavours of floss, as well as popcorn. I’m not sure what flavour I got, but it was blue and I found it in my hair and stuck to my face the following morning, which I’m guessing means I had a good time!

Style 50 was a fabulous night and it was lovely to see so many Birmingham bloggers and friends amongst the guests. I had a wonderful time, well worth the hangover on a school night.

Make your party complete with a photobooth

So, the venue is booked, the food is sorted and the disco is organised. What else is there to sort for your party – which is bound to be the party of the year. You’ve got balloons, bubbles, sparkly bits for the tables and all the guests have RSVP’d. The only thing you really need to add now, if you really want your party to go with a bang, is a photo booth. The ultimate in great fun, photo booths offer the opportunity for your guests to take home a memento of a great night, whilst sharing your event with social media. What’s not to love?

The idea for the photobooth is very simple. The exteriors can be customised to suite your venue and then you set it up in a corner of the room with a bit of space, and have props – things like glittery hats, wigs, funny sunglasses etc. You can also have signs for guests to hold. The photobooths offer unlimited photographs for guests, and often also have the capability to provide an online photo album and gallery that guests can tag themselves into and share on social media sites like Twitter and Facebook.

If you are thinking of hiring a photo booth for your event, it is well worth checking out OMG Entertainments, who have been voted the UK’s number one photo booth hire company. They offer bespoke packages for weddings and parties, and are also provide extra special packages including Christmas booths and selfie pods. OMG Entertainments may also be able to help you with additional party needs as they can also provide chocolate fountains (one of my personal faves!), light up lettering, special dance floors, even a white bouncy castle for the ultimate in wedding party fun.

It seems that every party I attend has a party photo booth – they really are the ultimate in fun and definitely help your party to go off with a (camera) flash, bang.

Halloween and Bonfire Night food from Country Valley

If you are a fan of Autumn, the chances are you love Halloween, Guy Fawkes night and all the things associated with these special days and nights. Halloween is becoming more and more popular, not just through ‘Trick or treating’ for children, but with many adults now getting dressed up and throwing Halloween parties. Bonfire Night is a great excuse for getting  wrapped up, getting together with friends and family and enjoying some fireworks and a glorious big bonfire.

In addition to traditional barbecue food, Country Valley also produce some great value hampers that are perfect for dinner parties and home catering. There is a small barbecue meat box which contains beef and lamb burgers and sausages, whilst the Grand Reserve English Beef steak box contains enough cuts of steak for 16 people and includes my personal favourite, the fillet steak. (yum!). All the meat is delivered to you fresh, but is also suitable for freezing.

Country Valley has a great blog that offers ideas and recipes, including some fabulous ideas for meat recipes that kids love too. So, if you are planning a special event this Autumn, check out Country Valley for food inspiration.
