Roll-up, Roll-up for the Selfridges Shoe Carnival
What is your favourite carnival? Maybe you attend a local one each year, with floats full of children in fancy dress. Do you go to Notting Hill every August, seeing out the end of the holidays in festive style? Or maybe you’ve got further afield, to the beauty of the Venice carnival, with its masked figures and Rococo style elegance, or to sun dripped Brazil for the Mardi Gras? Fabulous carnivals one and all. But this year you don’t need to travel that far to experience all the fun of the carnival. Just pop along to Selfridges and experience the colour, vitality and sheer lustworthy beauty of the Shoe Carnival…

Prabal Gurung Spring Collection – Bird of Paradise
Prabal Gurung is one of the New York based designers that I always look forward to seeing at New York Fashion week. His ultra feminine designs are always a feast for the eyes, and I found much to savour from his new collection, not least the sumptuous use of colour (particularly red and greys) and frill details. There were many style motifs running through the collection. Floaty cape effects were one which I thought were very successful, in the sheerest of chiffon fabrics, these additions to tops and dresses looked great and totally wearable. A girlie gossip with Lucy Kite
Lucy Kite is one of the most stylish ladies on TV at the moment. Whenever she is seen on television, from presenting weather on regional bulletins or on breakfast television’s Daybreak, she always looks totally impeccable and gorgeous, with an eye catching personal style that cleverly mixes high street style with designer pieces. For Mothers Day..some stylish celebrity mothers
On Mothering Sunday I thought I’d do a little style salute to some very stylish mothers. These are ladies who haven’t abandoned their signature style just because they have little ones. Ladies who still rock those heels and little black dresses, and always appear without a hair out-of-place and a perfectly made up face. And yes, these ladies may have nannies to deal with their baba’s, probably don’t have to worry about paying the mortgage, and have stylists on speed dial 24/7, but frankly, I still admire their style. So, especially for Mothers day, Fashion-Mommy salutes the real Fashion-Mommy’s. Not a pair of trackie bottoms, sloppy t-shirt and chocolate handprint…

Style Icon of the Month – Sarah Jessica Parker
There was only one choice for the style icon to round off the year. Sarah Jessica Parker has looked totally fabulous the whole month through, attending a whole host of occasions and on the premiere trail for new movie, New Year. From vintage Pauline Trigere, Theyskens Theory and Louis Vuitton, she has shown over and over again why she is one of the most iconic fashionistas of all time. Her looks have ranged from princessy feathers to funky coloured tights. DVF 60s style mini dresses to white lace chic Stella McCartney numbers, there is no limit to SJP’s scope for reinvention. My favourite dress is the early 1960s style black…
