Outfit post – April
Yes, I know it is almost the end of May, but outfit posts are always something that I forget, and then suddenly remember, usually at four in the morning. So here we are looking back on the busy month of April, which started with a mini holiday, and ended with a couple of Theatre press nights. April was a month where the weather was changeable, hence the abundance of long sleeves, dresses which still needed to be teamed with tights, and the need for jackets and my trusty Primark khaki mac, which was first seen last month and has been a fabulous buy (already worn to death, so for £15…

Your 5 at the Bullring
Last Saturday saw the Bullring, Birmingham host ‘Your 5’, a fashion and beauty event that promised to help you revitalise your wardrobe, or update your beauty regime, in 5 easy steps. A simple 10 minute consultation with a Your Five stylist gave customers an insight into key pieces for your face or wardrobe, with your final five pieces being sent directly to your email. I went along to check out the style picks. The Your Five Consultants had picked out a range of clothing available at Bullring stores to illustrate the key trends, which they had highlighted as culottes, silk, the blouse or shirt, jackets and footwear, specifically pumps and…

Floozie by Frost French – Retro Swimwear
I was in Birmingham, on my way to an event, and had a little time to kill. I decided to take a little wonder around the huge Bullring branch of Debenhams. With a holiday fast approaching, I headed straight for the holiday/swimwear collection, and promptly fell completely in love with the range from Sadie Frost and Jemima French, the fantastically named ‘Floozie’. This is a retro inspired collection that could’ve come straight from a range of saucy postcards, totally apt in it’s name. This weekend is a good time to take a closer look at Debenhams swimwear if you are sourcing your holiday wardrobe. You can find a whole series…

Occasion wear at Quiz Clothing
Yesterday I received my first invitation to an event that I describe as part of summer season. It is for a ladies day lunch and seasonal style and fashion show and is being hosted at Birmingham’s Botanical gardens, and will call for a knockout dress. This invite is sure to be followed by invites to ‘Ladies Day’ events at the races and the tennis, any number of wedding invites and generally for events that call for occasion wear. So the question is, what to wear? Fashion-Mommy does Ladies Day and Weddings I have a few go-to shops when it comes to occasion wear, but have recently discovered a new one.…

Flower Power from Wallis
This post is inspired by the beautiful weather we are having at the moment…and Helen McCrory. Bright, sunshine weather always makes me turn to the pretty floral pieces I have in my wardrobe, it just seems so apt to be wearing something floaty and pretty when the days are fine and warm. Thus my first influence is quite easily explained. The second is the fabulous actress Helen McCrory. I honestly can’t think of an actress who does florals on the red carpet quite as wonderfully as Helen. Last night she rocked up at the Television BAFTA’s in a stunning orange, floral print dress that was both classic in terms of…
