Elizabeth Taylor Fashion moments.
Elizabeth Taylor was the child star who grew up to become a Hollywood legend. Stunningly beautiful, with perfect violet eyes, she was famous for her looks, her talents and her tumultuous love life. Elizabeth Taylor wasn’t a style icon in the same way as her contemporaries Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe are viewed. But taking a glimpse through the archives it is clear that she did have moments of high style that make her someone for fashion lovers to admire and cherish forever. Here are some of those moments. 1951 – Edith Head – A place in the Sun. This was the film that really introduced the grown up Elizabeth…

The 70s are back!
I love the 70s. It’s definitely my favourite style decade. I love everything that was stylish about the decade. I love everything that was bad taste about the decade. I just love the 1970s! As a child of the 1970s I adored the girls from Abba, having a much treasured Agnetha doll wearing that satin cat print tunic. I loved Debbie Harry singing ‘Sunday Girl’, the hairstyles of Charlie’s Angels, especially the wonderful Cheryl Ladd, and I loved sequins. I didn’t notice the style icons of the decade that I now revere – Lauren Hutton, Angelica Huston, Bianca Jagger, Tina Chow, The Great Gatsby and Halston. But I did love…

The perfume diaries – the sweet smell of Harrods
A look back at an amazing exhibition from 2010 – The Perfume Diaries! Fashion-Mommy was lucky enough to get to see ‘The Perfume Diaries’ exhibition that was showing at Harrods recently, and I am pleased to say that it both looked, and smelt amazing. Perfume has been with us for a long time, far longer than I would have believed, and the Harrods exhibition was a celebration of this fact. There was a selection of herbs and flowers that go to make up different perfumes, and a selection of vials that you could smell, although some of these were extremely strong, a bit like smelling salts. Every top brand was…

Phase Eight Embrace Retro Winter Sun
I must admit I got a little bit excited when I first laid eyes on the new swimwear collection from Phase Eight. The brand is always a favourite of mine for the sheer glamour and elegance of the collections, there is something a little bit Hollywood about the full skirts and sequins, without even turning our head towards the spectacular ‘Collection 8’ range. And now we have a holiday range, complete with swimwear straight from the wardrobe of Liz Taylor and Marilyn Monroe, with a little 70s inspiration thrown in for good measure. The swimwear collection deserves the word ‘amazing’ attached to it. Forget barely there, string bikini’s, the pieces…

Louis Vuitton channels Elizabeth Taylor for the new season
Flicking through my September Issue of Vogue, I found that I just kept turning the pages back to look at the stunning images from the Louis Vuitton Autumn/Winter 2013 campaign. Made up of stunning photographs showing the likes of Karen Elson and Gisele Bundchen, almost unrecognisable in black wigs. The models are clad in sensible winter coats being worn over the wispiest of silk slips and shifts, and my mind was drawn to one of the ultimate style icons of the 20th century in two of her most famous, and also controversial, roles. The looks from this collection, as photographed by Steven Meisel, are pure Elizabeth Taylor at the height…
