Duchess Kate wears LK Bennett Detroit Dress
Duchess Kate has worn her first new look of the year on a visit to Northolt High School in Ealing today, and she again went for a High Street Label. Choosing one of her favourite shades of blue, Kate looked chic and beautiful in the Detroit dress from LK Bennett. With its notched collar detail, this dress gives the impression of a bolero jacket over a shift style dress. The three quarter sleeves and the modest neckline make this another elegant choice for the Duchess. At the time of writing, the dress is still available in almost all sizes on the LK Bennett website, but this is sure to change…

The little red dress
With today being February 14th, that most romantic of days, it seems like my focus for Friday’s shopping post could only be one thing, the little red dress. Valentine’s Day always seems to increase the popularity of the hottest colour around, and the celebs have been flaunting their red-hot numbers on red carpets and runways, showing that if you want to get ahead – wear red. If we look back at some of the most iconic dresses in our movie history, we see that the one thing many of these disparately different frocks had in common was the colour. Who can forget the naughtiest of debutantes, Bette Davis, scandalising the…

Happy Birthday Scarlett & Jo
One of my favourite brands is celebrating its first birthday this month. Scarlett & Jo, which is stocked exclusively in Evans, has had a very successful first year, establishing itself as one of the leading stylish brands for plus size ladies. With an emphasis first and foremost on creating beautiful dresses, Scarlett & Jo has very quickly become a place to find the perfect dress, either for work, the weekend, or that very special occasion. And, with its signature power fit dress, it has created an iconic piece of fashion. To celebrate this very special anniversary, Scarlett & Jo have launched their new collection. The hero pieces in this collection…

Orange – Fashion’s newest obsession
Orange is having a bit of a fashion moment. Wherever you look, it seems likely you will spot that most zesty and fruity of all colours. It has been making its mark on New York Fashion Week catwalk, Herve Leger and Carolina Herrera have applied it to glossy evening wear, whilst J Crew shows why a brightly coloured coat is a must-have for grey days. On the red carpet, it is a smash hit. Abbie Cornish looked so beautiful in a tangerine Elie Saab number covered in embellishments, whilst Reese Witherspoon and Karlie Kloss have both shown how well this most citrus of colours adapts itself to bodycon and classic…

Barbara Hulanicki – latest drop for George
The latest collection from Barbara Hulanicki is now in Asda stores and online and is a perfect transitional collection. Again utilising Barbara’s retro style prints so reminiscent of the iconic Biba collections, paired against classic black, this 10 piece range perfectly bridges the wardrobe gap between Winter and early spring by using jersey style fabrics and longer sleeve lengths. The prints are mainly based on geometric designs, with stretched diamonds and ovals being the key designs. Added interest is provided in the use of metallic threads to give a very 1970s feel – I’m thinking the classic Missoni styling of adding fine gold thread to bright colours. There are also…
