Popular Shoe Styles and their Country of Origin
From sneakers and sandals to pumps and flats there are a variety of shoe styles for women to choose between. Some are more casual than others while some are for specific activities like running or playing sports. Each individual style originated from a different place and has its own story, as seen in an interesting infographic . At Fashion Compassion, origin stories for brands are featured regularly, but this will touch upon the origin of specific popular shoe styles instead of individual brands. Friday fashion focus – shoes!
Today’s first post is inspired by the picture above that Asda George posted to it’s Twitter feed yesterday. I absolutely fell in love with these Court shoes, the Ice Cream sorbet colours and classic style had my longing for Spring and the chance to ditch the tights and grab a bit of pretty again. The weather is bitterly cold causing the ground underfoot to be slippy and dangerous, but party season calls for glitter, glamour and high heels. It is always important to look after our feet at any time of the year, but the season of merriment and festivities is also the season of chillblains, blisters and sore tootsies. In addition, this is the one time of year when the toenails really need to sparkle – you don’t want the look of your Jimmy Choos spoiled by uneven and split nails. Respected shoe retailer…

Next shoes ‘point’ the way this season
This season, it seems it may be time to turn your back on those cute, round toed shoes. Safe and pretty they may be, but this season it seems the emphasis is on making a point. Pointed toes with a dangerous and sexy edge are making their presence felt, and whether you opt for flats, skyscraper or kitten heels, or even a wedge, it seems your toes have to be coming to a point. Next have recently launched ‘The Shoe Room’ on their fabulous website, and have a whole section dedicated to points. Taking a look at The Shoe Room is a bit like walking into the Haribo factory if…
