Return of the 90s slip dress
When I was a teenager, there was one wardrobe item that was essential for a Saturday night out. I’m talking about the slip dress, that tiny piece of fabric with spaghetti style straps and a look that was distinctly more negligee than frock. I wore a pink short version the first time I met my husband, and used to actually buy vintage nighties to wear as dresses, sometimes grunge style with a t-shirt underneath, other times more glamorous with lots of faux pearls or diamante. Kate Moss was queen of the slip dress, and there was no-one cooler than Kate in the 90s. And although they’ve never really gone away…

Reviewed – Barratts Mary Jane Wedge Court Shoe
When it comes to shoes, I must admit to being a little bit obsessed. I can often resist the urge to buy new clothes, or jewellery, or even gorgeous handbags, but resisting then urge to buy gorgeous shoes is another matter. If there is such a thing as a shoe-pie(bit of a play on a magpie there), or a Shoe-nista, or just a plain shoe fiend, that would definitely be a label to fit me. So an opportunity to review shoes is one I will never turn down. Especially when the offer comes from one of my old favourite brands, with the chance to chose the shoes. Barratts has been…

Get Your Festival style sorted
Festival season will soon be upon us, and this year sees the biggie back, with Glastonbury once again promising to be memorable. Festivals are a great mixture of great style, great music, and, notoriously bad weather, but they are a part of Summer to enjoy and savour, whether you go for a single day or enjoy the whole camping/glamping experience. Festivals in the UK are as famous for the inclement weather as they are for the music, and weather does tend to govern festival fashion. Unlike Coachella, white is never a good idea at British festivals, one downpour and that lovely fresh field becomes a total quagmire. That said, there…

GQ/Selfridges Mens shopping event…If Carlsberg invented shopping evenings…
…They would be like this one. Men are notoriously bad shoppers, they either view it as a necessary evil when they need new jeans, shoes etc, or they trawl behind wives and girlfriends holding copious amounts of bags, all the time moaning about the football, rugby, cricket, darts they could be watching. So the GQ/Selfridges shopping evening, held in Birmingham on Wednesday, was clearly the work of genius. With complimentary bottles of Peroni available, along with vodka and whisky for those who like their chasers, this was clearly a shopping evening with a difference. DJ’s played thumping tunes, whilst expert advice was on hand about the latest trends from both…

A picnic in the park
Last week I received a lovely email asking if I would be interested in taking Joe for a teddy bears picnic in order to test a special alphabet picnic game designed by Waitrose. I loved the idea, we often have picnic lunches in the garden when the sun is shining. Joe also enjoys a challenge, so I knew the game would definitely interest him. So I replied with a great big ‘YES’, and on Monday we set out to a local park with Sooty, Sweep and Soo to take on the challenge. Cheslyn Hay park is truly lovely, with lots of grass and trees for children to run and explore,…
