British Comedy Awards – the best looks.
The British Comedy Awards were held last week which gave celebs another chance to dress up as part of the round of Christmas parties. There were some interesting looks on display to say the least, with Ulrika Johnson looking like an ageing rock chick in skin-tight trousers, Helen Mirren choosing a rather garish dress and Jo Brand making her usual (no) effort. But there were other looks that I really enjoyed, including a rather fabulous scene stealing appearance by Kylie. Here are my favourite looks from the night. The lovely Konnie Huq showed that draping is an elegant way to dress a baby bump, showing off her newly announced pregnancy…

Clothes Show Live – shopping, celebs…and more shopping!
I had my first experience of the Clothes Show Live last week, and I have to say I was quite impressed! Held each December in Birmingham’s LG Arena, the show attracts a mainly female audience who are attracted by the prospect of major shopping bargains from top brands and cult labels, beauty bargains to die for, and cute celebrity men..both models and mere mortals. They were not to be disappointed on any count. In terms of shopping, there are beauty bargains galore. From Illamasqua selling their fantastic mascaras two for five pounds (yes I did say £5!),great goodie bags from Jelly Pong Pong, Bourjois and Rimmel for less than £10,…

Downton Abbey sparks new/old trends.
We all know that TV programmes can help to set trends. Mad Men, Sex and The City and Desperate Housewives have all helped to set trends and have made fashion stars out of Sarah Jessica Parker, Christina Hendricks and Marcia Cross. But the latest TV trendsetter may just raise a few highbrows, as well as lowering a few hemlines. For the latest show setting the fashion world alike is Downton Abbey. Yes, you heard correctly, the period drama Downton Abbey, currently stuck somewhere in World War One. Debenhams are just one of the stores who are feeling the Downton effect, with fashion fans eager to copy the style of Michelle…

Paloma Faith brings a forties flavour to La Senza this October
Saturday will see the launch of a very special underwear collection at La Senza. Designed by the singer Paloma Faith, this forties inspired collection will help raise funds and awareness as part of breast cancer awareness month. The collection has all the hallmarks of Paloma Faith. The gorgeous singer has a kooky, retro style that some love, some hate. I personally love her unique wardrobe and her individual take on fashion that embraces our fashion heritage, and the gardenia wearing torch singers of the past. So, for this collection for La Senza, you can cast all images of thongs and boy pants from your mind. Instead think back to the…

Zara Taylor Jewellery – unusual, quirky and wonderful!
At the recent CICI press day I was thrilled to meet the supremely talented Zara Taylor, the founder and creator of Zara Taylor London, a vintage inspired jewellery line that is attracting huge attention and a celebrity following. I was really impressed with Zara’s creations, which look and feel like beautiful lost treasures that you have uncovered in a long forgotten jewel box. Zara’s pieces include cameos, timepieces and long pendants that are created from both vintage and vintage-inspired materials. I love the telescope that actually works, and the adorable ‘a nice cuppa rosy lea’ pendant with its delicate china cup and pink rose. The vintage timepieces, wore on a…
